Patent number: 6675519Abstract: The invention relates to a method for locking a gun that includes a firing pin and a lock cylinder provided with a lock cylinder bracket. The method comprises providing the firing pin with a recess that essentially conforms to the lock cylinder bracket both in shape and in size, wherein the bracket has at least two positions including a first position and a second position, and that in the first position, the bracket is fitted in the recess, so that the firing pin is movable towards the lock cylinder; and that in the second position, the bracket is not fitted in the recess, thereby preventing the firing pin from moving towards the lock cylinder and consequently locking the gun. The invention also relates to a locking arrangement for a pinlock of a gun. The locking arrangement comprises a lock cylinder provided with a bracket, and a firing pin provided with a recess that essentially conforms to the lock cylinder bracket both in shape and in size.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2002Date of Patent: January 13, 2004Assignee: Sako OyInventor: Timo Hyytinen

Publication number: 20030089016Abstract: The invention relates to a method for locking a gun, said gun including a firing pin. The method is characterised in that the gun also includes a lock cylinder (2) provided with a bracket (3), the firing pin (1) is provided with a recess (5) that essentially conforms to the lock cylinder bracket (3) both in shape and in size, and that said bracket (3) has at least two positions, and that in the first position, the bracket (3) is fitted in said recess (5), so that the firing pin can be moved towards the lock cylinder (2); and that in the second position, said bracket (3) is not fitted in said recess (5), thus preventing the firing pin (1) from moving towards the lock cylinder (2) and consequently locking the gun. The invention also relates to a locking arrangement for a pinlock of a gun, such as a rifle, said pinlock including a firing pin.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 13, 2002Publication date: May 15, 2003Inventor: Timo Hyytinen

Patent number: 4620384Abstract: Lock construction for the hammer of bulletbore firearms of foldable construction. The invention prevents the rearward movement, of the striker by the effect of the pressures of the gases from the gunpowder on firing of the arm, and also the ending up of the detonator material into the striker hole. The lock construction comprises a support fork, fitted in connection with a spindle of a folding lock of the arm, the said support fork being, in connection with the firing of the arm, shifted by the force of a spring to a hammer locking position. In this locking position the support fork rests against the hammer and, locks it in its forward position and thereby prevents the striker pin from being shifted rearwards by the force of the gunpowder gases. When the arm is being folded, owing to a camming arrangement between the spindle and the support fork, the support fork pivots to a hammer unlocking position so that the hammer can be cocked.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 1984Date of Patent: November 4, 1986Assignee: Valmet OyInventor: Timo Hyytinen

Patent number: 4532730Abstract: A butt assembly adapted to be coupled to the end face of the stock of a weapon adapted to be fired from the shoulder, such as a shotgun or the like, comprises a body member including a plate-like portion and mounting studs extending forwardly from the plate-like portion, the mounting studs having bores formed therethrough and extending into bores formed in the rearward end face of the weapon stock to mount the body member thereon, and a butt plate mounted on the plate-like portion of the body member by threaded fastener members which extend through bores formed in the butt plate into the bores of the mounting studs. The butt assembly may also comprise one or more extension members interposed between the body member and butt plate and mounted in position by the same threaded fasteners.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 1983Date of Patent: August 6, 1985Assignee: Valmet OyInventor: Timo Hyytinen

Patent number: 3968727Abstract: A firearm having structure operated by gas pressure, upon firing of a round, as well as a relief valve for responding to excess pressure. A gas cylinder is fixed to a barrel of the firearm, forwardly of a magazine which extends beneath the barrel, this gas cylinder communicating with the barrel to receive gas under pressure therefrom upon firing of a round. A piston in the gas cylinder is moved rearwardly along the magazine when gas under pressure is received in the cyliner, so as to operate structure automatically in this way, and a guide for the piston extends forwardly from the magazine into the cylinder and is surrounded by the piston so as to guide the latter, the guide having a diameter smaller that the magazine and having a hollow interior which accommodates part of a magazine spring which urges rounds therein rearwardly.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 1974Date of Patent: July 13, 1976Assignee: Valmet OyInventor: Timo Hyytinen

Patent number: 3945296Abstract: A piston such as a gas piston of a firearm. The piston includes a substantially rigid cylindrical body having an end region which fluid-tightly and slidably engages one surface while extending from the latter surface toward but terminating short of a second surface which is fluid-tightly and slidably engaged by an elastic sealing ring of the piston. The end region of the piston member is formed with a groove receiving a flange of the sealing ring and the latter has a wall extending from the flange to define with a lip situated on one side of the groove a gap of a predetermined radial width. Situated in this groove between the lip and the flange of the sealing ring is a snap ring which has between its peripheral edges a radial width greater than the width of the gap for securely maintaining the sealing ring in its operative relationship with respect to the piston member.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 1974Date of Patent: March 23, 1976Assignee: Valmet OyInventor: Timo Hyytinen

Patent number: 3938271Abstract: A firearm which has a receiver formed with an ejection port through which the cartridge case of a spent cartridge is ejected. A bolt is situated in the receiver for movement between a forward firing position and a rear retracted position, a cartridge case being ejected when the bolt is in its rear retracted position. The bolt is also supported in the receiver for rotary movement between locked and unlocked positions. A sleeve is operatively connected to and surrounds the bolt for rotating the latter between its locked and unlocked positions, this sleeve having a length substantially less than the length of the bolt and covering part of the ejection port when the bolt is in its firing position. A cover is provided to cover that part of the port which is not covered by the sleeve when the bolt is in its firing position, and this cover responds to rearward movement of the bolt from its firing to its retracted position for uncovering the ejection port.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 1974Date of Patent: February 17, 1976Assignee: Valmet OyInventor: Timo Hyytinen
