  • Patent number: 11118402
Abstract: A rock drilling machine, rock drilling rig and method of measuring physical features during rock drilling is provided. The rock drilling machine includes one or more sensing devices, which are arranged in connection with a bendable sensing cord. The sensing cord is fed via a feed passage to a flushing passage of a drilling tool.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 17, 2019
Date of Patent: September 14, 2021
Assignee: Sandvik Mining and Construction Oy
Inventors: Juha Piispanen, Timo Leino, Sirpa Launis
  • Publication number: 20200332650
Abstract: An apparatus and method of determining position of a drilling tool during drilling is disclosed. The apparatus includes a magnetic source mounted to a rotating drilling tool and at least three magnetometers, which are located outside a drilled hole. Sensing data of the rotating magnetic field is transmitted from the magnetometers to a control unit (CU) provided with a position calculation algorithm. The control unit is also provided with pose data of the magnetometers. The control unit compares the received sensing data and determines phase angles from the sensing data. The algorithm utilizes the phase angles and the known positions of the magnetometers when calculating the position.

Abstract: An apparatus and method of determining the position of a drilling tool during drilling is provided. The apparatus includes a magnetic source mounted to a rotating drilling tool and at least two magnetometers, which are located outside a drilled hole. Sensing data of a rotating magnetic field is transmitted from the magnetometers to a control unit provided with a position calculation algorithm. The control unit is also provided with position data of the magnetometers and a reference position of the drilling tool. The control unit compares the received sensing data when the drilling tool is in the reference position and when being moved to a new position. Phase angles are then detected from the sensing data. The algorithm utilizes the phase angles and the known positions of the magnetometers and the reference point when calculating the changed position.

  • Patent number: 10012024
Abstract: A control valve for controlling flow of a pressure fluid in a breaking device includes a sleeve-like control valve having at least one opening enabling flow of the pressure fluid through the opening. The at least one opening includes at least one wall, at least a part of which is not arranged in a direction parallel to a radial direction of the control valve extending through the middle point of the cross section of the opening on the outer circumference of the control valve, such that the pressure fluid flowing through the opening may be arranged to rotate the control valve about the longitudinal axis of the control valve.

  • Patent number: 9737983
Abstract: A percussion piston for a rock drill machine having a pilot cylinder, a distributor and a pressure medium includes a control edge configurable to cause a change in the position of the distributor in a direction parallel to the axial direction of the percussion piston as the percussion piston moves in the impact direction (A) in relation to the pilot cylinder. The control edge of the percussion piston includes at least one notch provided on the outer periphery of the control edge and arranged to cause a start of a state change for the distributor before the control edge of the percussion piston passes by a corresponding control edge provided on the distributor or pilot cylinder.
