  • Patent number: 7552237
Abstract: Cached information that includes multiple network addresses is delivered in a manner that changes the order of the network addresses each time the cached information is delivered to a client, thereby achieving load balancing in a manner that reduces network traffic and improves system performance. In the preferred embodiments, the user defines a minimum time to live (TTL) and one or more order change criteria. When a query is made to a DNS, the DNS returns an answer that includes a time to live (TTL). This answer may be stored in a cache, and may include multiple network addresses. If the TTL for the answer received from a DNS is less that the minimum TTL, the TTL for the answer is set to the minimum TTL before storing the answer in the cache.

  • Patent number: 6948159
Abstract: A method and apparatus of generating code for producing messages in a processor; the messages being in conformance with the ASN.1 (Abstract Syntax Notation.1). Standards of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), and the International Standards Organization (ISO). An ASYN software tool uses input describing protocol in the ASN.1 Standard, and uses a general script input to describe the rules for manipulating the ASN.1 inputs. The output of ASYN tool is used together with Application Programmer input describing the requirements for a specific application as inputs to a CASE (Computer Aided Software Engineering) software tool development environment. The output of the CASE tool development environment is then used by a Compiler for the Object Processor which provides the messages. Advantageously, changes in the Application Programmer input can be compiled without further manual effort. Advantageously, once the general script input file has been created, changes in the ASN.

  • Patent number: 6582539
Abstract: A method for fabrication or production of composite structures, which has particular advantages when fabricating large structures, includes the steps of procuring a composite panel, such as carbon-fiber-reinforced resin. The edge of the composite panel its adhesively fixed in the slot of a bifurcated metallic piece. After the composite panel is adhesively fixed to the metallic piece, the metallic piece is stir-friction welded to another metal piece. The stir-friction welding occurs at a lower temperature than fusion welding, and so the adhesive bond between the metallic element and the composite panel is less affected. When two composite panels are each adhesively fastened to a metallic element, the two metallic elements can, in turn, be stir-friction welded. Thus, large panels can be fabricated.

  • Patent number: 5587103
Abstract: A composition for optimally removing or etching metallic alloys from chemically compatible substrates with minimal damage to the substrate. The preferred composition is Ammonium Fluoride, Hydrofluoric Acid, Nitric Acid, Phosphoric Acid and Water in a specified range of quantities used to selectively remove an Aluminum and Silicon Alloy and Titanium film from a chemically compatible substrate. The composition is placed in contact with Stainless Steel, Silicon, or other organic or metallic substrates to remove, etch, or pattern homogenous or layered Aluminum, Silicon, Titanium and Copper Alloys from the substrate with minimal etching to the underlying substrate.

  • Patent number: 5020675
Abstract: Apparatus for sorting articles having a roller conveyor for moving articles through an inspection region where they are scanned by a camera. From the scans, the position of boundaries of the articles is determined so that the existence and location of the articles can be identified. Color counts, representative of the color of the articles are made from the scans and are correlated with the appropriate article identified. Load cells produce weight information which is similarly correlated with the appropriate articles. The information is fed to a processor which is arranged to track the articles through the inspection region and is arranged to route the articles differently in accordance with the color counts and/or weight information correlated therewith.

  • Patent number: 4710261
Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed for replenishing the depleted component of a multicomponent etching solution. A portion of the etching solution is analyzed with a UV detector to determine the concentration of the depleted component. An output signal is produced by the UV detector which is a function of the depleted component's concentration. In response to this output signal, a microprocessor is used to control the amount of make-up solution, enriched with the depleted component of the multicomponent etching solution, which is added to the etching solution. With the use of this system, a substantially uniform etch bath composition is maintained.
