Patent number: 8728642Abstract: An energy storage system comprising at least one energy storage module adapted to supply electrical energy to a hybrid vehicle. The energy storage module comprises an enclosure, at least one battery array located within the enclosure, and an energy storage controller module located within the enclosure and electrically connected to the battery array. A high voltage junction box is attached to a first end of the enclosure and having a plurality of high voltage connection terminals connected by a plug-in bussed electrical center configured to reduce the possibility of unintentional grounding or shorting, and decreases the safety risk to a technician during servicing. At least one of the high voltage connection terminals is configured to receive a high voltage conductor connected between the energy storage module and an inverter of the hybrid vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2012Date of Patent: May 20, 2014Assignee: Allison Transmission, Inc.Inventors: Brian J. Publication number: 20120244400Abstract: An energy storage system comprising at least one energy storage module implemented as a sealed or submersible unit and adapted to supply electrical energy to a hybrid vehicle. The energy storage module comprises an enclosure and at least one battery array located within the enclosure. The energy storage module includes a pressure relief panel held in place by springs that allows battery gases to escape if gas pressures reach a predetermined threshold. Pressure in the enclosure compresses the springs causing the pressure relief panel to temporarily move outward until pressure is relieved at which time the springs force the pressure relief panel to reseal the enclosure.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 6, 2012Publication date: September 27, 2012Inventors: Daniel J. Patent number: 5245886Abstract: A rotary temperature mechanism for controlling the temperature door of a HVAC system of a vehicle includes a rotatable cam connected by a shaft to a rotary temperature control knob. The cam includes a helical rib thereon coacting with a carrier restricted to linear, sliding motion by the housing in response to rotation of the cam. The housing provides a linear track for guiding the carrier. Detent members are provided between the cam and housing to impart discrete stepping feel on rotation of the knob. The detent members include ball bearings on the cam rolling along a corrugated track of the housing. A cable is connected to the carrier and controls the temperature door by linear motion imparted thereon.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 1992Date of Patent: September 21, 1993Assignee: Delco Electronics CorporationInventors: Robin L.
