Abstract: Systems, methods and media for storing information in a common information store of a global file storage system are disclosed. Embodiments may include a common information store including a communications module to send and receive information to and from one or more servers in the global file storage system and a pattern database to store a plurality of subfiles for the global file storage system, where each subfile may include an indication of a recognizable pattern. The common information store may also include a common information store manager to analyze newly stored files and to reconstruct stored files of the global file storage system. In a further embodiment, the common information store manager may further comprise a pattern analyzer sub-module to analyze a file for recognizable patterns and to compare the recognizable patterns to the subfiles stored in the pattern database.

Abstract: A system and method for allowing remote callers to access a secure telephone network maintains a registry (i.e. a database) of all remote callers that have access to the network. The registry contains an electronic serial number (ESN) and a personal identification number (PIN) for each remote caller. The ESN is typically the serial number of the callers cellular telephone. Alternatively, the ESN is a phone number of the remote caller's telephone. To establish a connection, the remote caller calls a private branch exchange (PBX) of the secure network. Upon receiving the call, the PBX compares the ESN and PIN of the remote caller with the ESN and PIN stored in the registry. If a match is found, the PBX authenticates the remote caller and allows the connection. The remote caller may have full access or access limited by a connection policy.

Abstract: Systems, methods and media for testing computer programs in response to a program upgrade or installation are disclosed. In one embodiment, a computer executes software to detect when an upgrade or an installation occurs. When an upgrade or installation occurs the computer initiates a test of one or more applications and/or operating systems. The results of these tests are logged in one or more error logs that can be displayed to a program developer or operating system administrator for diagnosis.

Abstract: Peer-to-peer communications between vehicles providing warning of a collision or near-collision event and/or collision avoidance is controlled by otherwise underutilized air bag deployment processors in respective vehicles. Direction of reception of warning signals is used to selectively control relaying of warning signals at differentiated warning levels, collision avoidance actions and/or in-vehicle warning alarms to operators of vehicles in the vicinity of an event.

Abstract: A method for facilitating authorized online communication includes receiving sponsor identification information. The method further includes receiving sign up information from at least a first and second user based on the sponsor identification information and receiving a sponsor authorization. Based on the sponsor authorization, communication between users is allowed. A computer usable medium including computer program code for accomplishing similar actions is also disclosed. A system including means for accomplishing similar actions is also disclosed.

Abstract: A system and method for providing implementing proxy handling of instant messages and the like, wherein proxy recipients are designated by an original recipient, and one or more redirection rules are established indicating conditions under which said designated proxy recipients are to be sent redirected messages. When an instant message is received directed towards the original recipient, the redirection rules are evaluated and the message is redirect to a designated proxy recipient according to the redirection rules, with the display of the received message being suppressed or blocked on the intended original recipient's user interface.

Abstract: Systems, methods and media for performing auto-migration of data among a plurality of memory devices are disclosed. In one embodiment, memory access of application program data is monitored for each of one or more application programs. The data may be stored in one or more of a plurality of memory storage devices, each with its own performance characteristics. Monitored access is evaluated to determine an optimal distribution of the application programs data, typically stored in files, among the plurality of memory storage devices. The evaluation takes into account service level requirements of each application program. Periodically, data may be automatically transferred from one memory storage device to another to achieve the determined optimal allocation among the available memory storage devices consistent with service level requirements.

Abstract: The invention is an improvement to a storage virtualization system that enables the system to determine a class of service for potential storage devices and allows a user, administrator, or application to select a minimum class of service for any given type of data. The class of service is based upon factors that reflect a potential storage device's reliability, such as the device type and historical uptime data. In a P2P environment, the class of service also includes additional factors, such as the type of attached processing unit and the type of operating system running the attached processing unit.

Abstract: Described is a way to adjust an application's storage availability by noting a storage event occurrence. An occurrence that necessitates a requirements change triggers negotiation, wherein a series of negotiation stages are presented to a storage provider server. For each storage provider response to a transmitted negotiation stage, a determination is made to see if the response is better than the proposal described in the negotiation stage. If so, the application commits the storage changes.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for providing an intelligent event notification system. The method includes selecting a type of event notification for an event. Determining the type of event notification is based in part on information elements associated with the event. The method also includes determining at least one optimal alert system to receive an event notification corresponding to the type of event notification selected. The determination is based in part on information elements associated with the event. The method further includes associating an alert trigger with the event notification and transmitting the event notification to the at least one optimal alert system upon activation of the alert trigger.

Abstract: Changes in user behavior of usage of wireless services from a mobile device are encouraged in order to effect shaping of traffic and utilization patterns among a plurality of cells within a rate plan region, wherein a discount indicator disposed in said mobile device is provided to notify a user of a discount available for consuming wireless service from a given cell. A geo-cost policy is established for that user or mobile device in which rules and conditions according to the available discounts and class of service are defined. A service completer queues services and automatically completes queued services upon present conditions meeting said geo-cost policy rules, such as delaying and later delivering messages when the mobile device is relocated to a cell where discounts are being offered.

A flowing pop-up menu is displayed nearby the form fields from which the user can select values to automatically complete the form. Automatic account information updating, value expiration management, mapping of favorite values, and sharing of values are provided to ease the task of remembering value for entry into electronic form fields.

Abstract: A method and system for testing newly installed or recently upgraded software is presented. All software installation activities are tracked and logged. New and upgrade software is isolated, either physically or logically, and tested using diagnostic software. If the new/upgrade isolated software passes the testing by the diagnostic software, then it is allowed to operate in the presence of other previously installed software. If an error occurs during an execution of the new/upgrade software, either while isolated or in the presence of previously loaded software, a log of other concurrently running software is reviewed to determine a likely software incompatibility with the new/upgrade software.

Abstract: A method, system, and program for setting operation based resource utilization thresholds for resource use by a process are provided. An efficiency-based workload manager samples multiple actual resource use characteristics while a process executes, where the actual resource use characteristics designate a portion of a total amount of system resources available to the process that are utilized by the process at multiple times over a sampling period. Next, responsive to detecting the conclusion of the sampling period, the efficiency-based workload manager determines an operation based resource utilization threshold for the process based on a maximum resource use within the multiple samplings of actual resource use characteristics.

Abstract: A method for providing adaptive, selectable print options. The method includes parsing a document into logical sections, each of the logical sections identified by a reference. The method also includes creating a print map of references identified as a result of the parsing, displaying the print map along with selectable print options, and executing a print operation in response to a selected print option. The selected print option specifies a reference from the print map. A logical section associated with the reference is transmitted to a printer for printing.

Abstract: A system and method for creating an on-demand virtual drive from dedicated storage on a plurality of partners in a peer-to-peer network using an agent installed on each of the partners. The agent has a contributing program and a requesting program. The contributing program creates a first storage unit and a second storage unit, formatting the second storage unit so that it is not visible to the operating system of the partner and transmitting the size of the second storage unit to the other partners. The requesting partner creates a virtual drive using space on selected partner's second drives, and directs data blocks in and out of the virtual drive. A rules engine incorporating RAID algorithms governs the selection of the partners and allocation of available space.

Abstract: Changes in wireless service user behavior are encouraged and produced to shape utilization patterns among cells within a rate plan region by using shaping rules which define potential discounts from a standard charge rate under certain cell-specific utilization conditions, analyzing the shaping rules and utilization statistics of a cell upon service initiation, generating a discount from the standard rate for underutilized cells. The user is notified of these discount opportunities using text messages, icons, or other means. Over time, the users learn that at certain places and times, significant discounts are offered, and thus changes their behavior to take advantage of those discounts, thereby shaping traffic in a manner desired by the service provider.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for email attachment management. An email is received. The email is scanned to detect an attachment. If the email contains an attachment, the attachment is detached from the email. The detached attachment is stored in a storage location on a storage medium. The email is modified to include a link, the link at least identifying the storage location and the modified email is stored.
