  • Patent number: 6037522
Abstract: The present invention provides methods of Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of monocots. The invention further provides methods of making transgenic monocots, as well as transgenic monocots made by the present methods, and seeds and progeny thereof.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 23, 1998
Date of Patent: March 14, 2000
    Assignee: Rhone-Poulenc Agro
Inventors: Jinjiang Dong, Weimin Teng, Timothy C. Hall
  • Patent number: 5591605
Abstract: The invention provides genetically modified plant cells having a plant structural gene introduced and expressed therein under the control of a T-DNA promoter. In particular, the invention provides genetically modified plant cells having the phaseolin gene introduced and expressed therein under the control of a T-DNA promoter. Also provided are novel strains of bacteria containing and replicating T-DNA which has been modified to contain an inserted plant structural gene under the control of a T-DNA promoter. Further, the invention provides novel plasmids having the ability to replicate in E. coli and comprising T-DNA which has been modified to contain an inserted plant structural gene under the control of a T-DNA promoter.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 24, 1994
Date of Patent: January 7, 1997
    Assignee: Mycogen Plant Science, Inc.
Inventors: Timothy C. Hall, John D. Kemp, Jerry L. Slightom, Dennis W. Sutton
  • Patent number: 5504200
Abstract: The phaseolin structural gene and promoter are disposed. Also disclosed are plasmids, bacteria, plant cells, plant tissue and plants containing the phaseolin promoter. The promoter finds use in the expression of heterologous plants genes, including the phaseolin gene, in transformed plant cells and plants.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 18, 1994
Date of Patent: April 2, 1996
    Assignee: Mycogen Plant Science, Inc.

  • Patent number: 4921802
Abstract: A method is disclosed for detecting RNA viral infections in plants comprising the isolation of an RNA molecule, e.g., from alfalfa mosaic virus (AMV), production of full-length cDNA transcripts, cloning into plasmids and propgation of the recombinant plasmid. This recombinant DNA plasmid is utilized diagostically to test a plant for infection by a virus, e.g., AMV.
