  • Patent number: 5726118
Abstract: An activated carbon composition of matter is disclosed comprising a mixture of: (a) a first activated carbon having a plurality of pore sizes, pore volumes and pore surface areas sufficient to selectively adsorb fluids having molecular diameters from about 4 Angstroms to about 4,000 Angstroms; and (b) a second activated carbon having a plurality of pore sizes, pore volumes, and pore surface areas to selectively adsorb fluids having molecular diameters from about 4 Angstroms to about 4,000 Angstroms. The pore size distribution of pores in the second activated carbon that adsorbs fluids having molecular diameters from about 4 Angstroms to about 15 Angstroms is greater than that of the first activated carbon. The second activated carbon is present in an amount sufficient to provide a methane working capacity of the mixture greater than the methane working capacity of the first activated carbon.

  • Patent number: 5362130
Abstract: A lightweight, collapsible compact chair with back support for outdoor backpacking use is described. The chair is an improvement in stability and weight to a prior art compact chair disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 4,673,211. The improved chair version comprises a triangular sling fastened to the ends of three frame support members which are joined to form an inverted wye for placing on the ground. The two front support members are angled 90 degrees apart for optimum seated stability. A removable backrest is placed against the top of the sling and held by an adhesive. Each of the three frame support members may be easily connected or disconnected without need of screws or clamps. When placed closely together for packing together with the sling, the package weighs less than 24 ounces, which is very suitable for back-packing.

  • Patent number: 4673211
Abstract: A lightweight compact chair with back support is described, comprising a triangular sling, a frame supporting the sling, and a backrest. The frame is comprised of three support members, preferably of tubular aluminum, and a hinged device to which each of the three support members is attached. When unfolded for sitting, the two front support members lay on the ground at opposing angles to one another, their ends turned upward and acting as legs supporting the sling. The rear support slopes upward from the ground and is extended by a T-shaped member, which provides one of the three supporting points for the sling, as well as providing support for an attached backrest. The three support members are pivotably connected by the hinged device which allows them to be either locked in place, or folded together in substantial parallel alignment to make a compact carrying package.
