  • Patent number: 9201026
Abstract: A method for estimating properties of porous media, such as fine pore or tight rocks, is provided. The method comprises digital image scanning of sequential sub-samples of porous media at progressively higher resolution to systematically identify sub-sections of interest within the original sample and then estimate properties of the porous media. The resulting properties of the porous media then can be optionally upscaled to further estimate the properties of larger volumes of the porous media such as rock facies or subterranean reservoirs. A system operable for conducting the method also is provided.

  • Patent number: 9142045
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for displaying two-dimensional geological image data in log format and the displayed image products thereof. The present invention can provide a concatenated display format for two-dimensional image data captured for different planar slices of a geological sample. The present method provides an enhanced format modality for presentation of such image data of a geological sample as a continuous presentation for the slices in the sequence.

  • Patent number: 9064328
Abstract: The present invention relates in part to a method for generating a multi-dimensional image of a sample which combines different image capturing modalities with data analysis capability for identifying and integrating the higher accuracy image features captured by each respective modality to yield reconciled image data of higher accuracy and consistency. A system which can be used to perform the method also is included.

  • Publication number: 20140052420
Abstract: The pore structure of rocks and other materials can be determined through microscopy and subjected to digital simulation to determine the properties of the material such as its maturity level or conversion ratio. To determine the maturity level, some disclosed method embodiments obtain a 3D model of a rock sample; estimate volumes of organic matter; estimate volumes of pores with within the organic matter; calculate a conversion ratio as a function of the volumes of organic matter and the volumes of pores within the organic matter; correlate the conversion ratio with a maturity level, and display at least one of the conversion ratio and the maturity level.

  • Patent number: 4593912
Abstract: A quoit throwing game including three posts impaled at each end of a quoit pitching area or range; the posts being arrayed in a row longitudinally of the range with the intermediate post highest, so that the intermediate post most easily receives thereover a thrown quoit, the forward post receiving thereover a thrown quoit with some difficulty, and the rearward post receiving thereover a thrown quoit with greatest difficulty.
