Abstract: A portable electrical energy monitor for measuring the electrical energy usage of an appliance or the like is disclosed. The monitor includes an enclosure having a cover for opening and closing the enclosure. An electrical measurement device or circuit is positioned within the enclosure and includes a receptacle plug for complementary interconnection to a receptacle plug of an appliance, also to be received within the enclosure. The cover of the enclosure is closed when the appliance receptacle plug is operatively interconnected to the receptacle plug of the electrical measuring device or circuit. A visual display device is connected to the electrical measuring device and is mounted to the enclosure for visual display of electrical energy usage of an interconnected appliance.
