  • Patent number: 10766042
Abstract: A dispensing nozzle assembly for dispensing a flowable liquid through a nozzle, incorporating a rotating tube assembly. The dispensing nozzle assembly includes a nozzle coupling for supplying the flowable liquid, and a cylindrical nozzle tube having an inlet end connected to the nozzle coupling, and an outlet end attached to a dispensing nozzle. A union housing is secured to the nozzle coupling, and has a top opening through which the nozzle coupling extends, and an interior space that accepts and surrounds the nozzle coupling. The rotating tube assembly also includes a rotatable, cylindrical outer tube that surrounds the nozzle tube, which has an inlet end that extends into union housing, and an outlet end that extends proximate the outlet end of the nozzle tube. The inlet end of the rotatable outer tube that extends into union housing and is secured rotatably by a pair of spaced-apart, axially-aligned shaft bearings.

  • Patent number: 7963246
Abstract: An apparatus is designed to apply a controlled adhesive bead to a workpiece as the workpiece is manually moved along a stationary adhesive dispensing mechanism. The apparatus comprises a worktable with a motion detection device mounted on a top surface of the table, the adhesive dispensing mechanism mounted to the worktable, an electronic control system mounted to the worktable and operatively connected to the motion detection device and the adhesive dispensing mechanism, and an adhesive source. The workpiece is manually moved under the dispensing mechanism. Regardless of the workpiece movement speed, a consistent sized adhesive bead is applied to the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 7934465
Abstract: As adhesive applicator head for use on an assembly line apparatus dispenses adhesive in a non-contact manner to produce a wide band of adhesive on a moving substrate. The applicator head comprises an upper body secured to a lower body and at least one nozzle mounted therewithin. An adhesive manifold within the applicator head ensures a steady flow of adhesive to tips of the nozzles. An air manifold within the applicator head is in communication with opposed pin holes positioned alongside each nozzle and oriented so that high velocity air exits the pin holes and flows along a nozzle tip of the nozzle. The high velocity air encounters freshly dispensed adhesive at the nozzle tip and causes it to leave the tip in a back-forth manner to result in a scribble pattern on the substrate. The scribble pattern's width is well defined. It is determined primarily by side to side placement of the nozzles in the applicator head at about the adhesive band width desired.
