  • Patent number: 10605623
Abstract: A rotation measurement system is shown and described herein. In some embodiments, the rotation measurement system comprises a pinion gear comprising an elastic material allowing the pinion gear to deform. The elastic deformation of the pinion gear provides a complete mesh such that there is no backlash between the pinion gear and a main gear when the pinion gear is pressed into the main gear. The pinion gear may be held in place with at least one spring pressing the pinion gear into the main gear. A sensor for measuring the rotation of the pinion gear may be decoupled from the pinion gear assembly by utilizing a Hall effect sensor to detect a magnetic field of a magnet disposed on a shaft coupled to the pinion gear.

  • Patent number: 10435283
Abstract: A turntable leveling system is configured to level a boom turret of an aerial device. This allows the boom turret to be leveled more than with level correction by outriggers. The turntable leveling system includes a lower turntable wedge and an upper turntable wedge. Each of the lower turntable wedge and the upper turntable wedge is independently rotatable relative to the chassis. The turntable leveling system is configured to be installed between a chassis and the boom turret of an aerial device. The turntable leveling system may further comprise a central turntable wedge disposed between the upper turntable wedge and the lower turntable wedge.

  • Patent number: 10427926
Abstract: A boom monitoring system includes at least one sensor for monitoring information about a boom in real time, and a controller that performs the steps of determining an effective load applied to the boom based on the information from the at least one sensor and determining whether the effective load exceeds a predetermined limit. The system further includes an alert indicator communicatively coupled to the controller for producing an alert when the effective load exceeds the predetermined limit. A boom monitoring method includes determining a current boom geometry based on at least one sensor, determining a load limit based on the current boom geometry and predetermined load values, determining an effective load based on a hydraulic fluid pressure of a boom hydraulic cylinder, determining whether the effective load exceeds the load limit, and producing an alert when the effective load exceeds the load limit.

  • Patent number: 10124773
Abstract: A chassis-stabilization system is shown and described that promotes chassis stability over chassis leveling. The chassis-stabilization system equalizes, or more equalizes, the loads on the chassis. This is because uneven loads can cause the chassis (and by extension the entire utility vehicle) to overturn. The chassis-stabilizing system may include a first pressure transducer, a second pressure transducer, a level sensor, and a controller. The controller is configured to receive a first initial reading from the first pressure transducer and a second initial reading from the second pressure transducer; determine an initial pressure profile based at least in part on the first initial reading and the second initial reading; compare the initial pressure profile to a known level profile; and instruct the first actuator to actuate so as to adjust the initial pressure profile to proportionally nearer to the known level profile.
