Patent number: 8943785Abstract: An apparatus and method for automated high-throughput processing seed requests or orders includes an autonomous single seed counter and packager which operates by pre-programmed criteria. Optional features can include a thresher, a spiral separator, and a label applicator. A conveyance path, controlled automatically, can move the seed to appropriate and desired stations during the processing while maintaining segregation from subsequent seed being processed. Validation of the seed request matching the sample requested occurs prior to processing and information about the seed to process or having been processed can be derived and stored for further use.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 2009Date of Patent: February 3, 2015Assignee: Pioneer Hi Bred International IncInventors: Roger Blickhan, Bruce E. Patent number: 8639383Abstract: The present invention provides an automated research seed planting system, method, and apparatus. The system, method, and apparatus may include a planter configured for planting a research plot and comprising a seed package assembly handling device configured to receive a seed package assembly containing a research seed sample, and a controller configured to communicate with the seed package assembly handling device. The controller is configured to automatically control the seed package assembly handling device to release the research seed sample. In various embodiments, the research seed planter may include a positional data acquisition system configured to acquire position data associated with one or more research seed planting events.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2009Date of Patent: January 28, 2014Assignee: Pioneer Hi Bred International IncInventors: Daniel M. Goldman, James L. Hunter, David L. Johnson, Timothy P. Meyer, Lyndon J. Schroeder, Timothy J. Wilhelm

Patent number: 7975632Abstract: The invention is directed to an apparatus, method and system for a seed planter. The seed planter has a planting, dispensing and metering assembly operatively attached to a mobile supporting structure. The metering assembly has separated seed pre-staging and/or staging positions for staging pre-specified counts of seed separated from other counts in the batch and maintaining separation of the pre-specified counts of seed from other counts in the batch for planting. Alternatively, the metering assembly has separated seed staging positions for staging a batch of seed in singulated form for planting.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2009Date of Patent: July 12, 2011Assignee: Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc.Inventors: Joseph K. Gogerty, Daniel M. Goldman, Kent L. Hoeppner, James L. Hunter, Jason J. Kelsick, Timothy P. Meyer, Joshua L. Mongan, David C. Smith, Loren Steenhoek, Barry L. Stott, Timothy J. Wilhelm

Patent number: 5268810Abstract: An electrical connector receptacle for allowing connection of electronic apparatus contained within a shielded enclosure to a multi-conductor wiring harness using a plug having a plurality of male pins arranged in a grid pattern is shown in which the connector receptacle includes a conductive connector receptacle shell defining a housing cavity having open front and rear faces dimensioned to receive the plug when inserted through the open front face. A multi-coplanar capacitor (MCC) layered structure having a front and a rear surface is connected with its front surface facing the rear surface of the connector receptacle and having a plurality of socket contacts arranged to receive the connector pins of the male plug. Separate individual pin planes define the MCC system each associated with a pair of ground planes connected to a common chassis ground.Type: GrantFiled: January 8, 1993Date of Patent: December 7, 1993Assignee: Honeywell Inc.Inventors: Mario DiMarco, Timothy J.
