  • Publication number: 20130083135
Abstract: Inkjet printing systems are provided. One inkjet printing system has a plurality of inkjet printheads, each having nozzles for jetting ink droplets having a vaporizable carrier fluid, a support structure to which the plurality of inkjet printheads are mounted, such that a face of each of the printheads of the plurality of printheads is positioned to jet the ink droplets toward a target area through which a receiver transport system moves a receiver during printing; and a shield between the support structure and the target area creating a first region between the shield and the target area with the shield having at least one opening through the shield through which the nozzles of the printhead can jet the ink droplets to the target area. An energy source supplies energy to cause the temperature of the shield to rise above a condensation temperature of vaporized carrier fluid in the second region.

  • Patent number: 7712986
Abstract: An imaging apparatus includes a printhead carrier for mounting a printhead cartridge. The printhead carrier includes a carrier back wall having an upper portion. A back portion of a printhead cartridge cradle is connected to the carrier back wall. A first proximal end of a latch lever is pivotably attached to a front portion of the printhead cartridge cradle. The latch lever has at least one cam follower, with each cam follower being located near the first distal end of the latch lever. A second proximal end of a carrier lid is pivotably attached to the upper portion of the carrier back wall. Each cam of the carrier lid is formed near a second distal end of the carrier lid, and each cam is positioned for progressive engagement by a corresponding cam follower as the latch lever is moved from an open position toward a latched position.

  • Publication number: 20080008512
Abstract: An imaging apparatus includes a guide frame and a printhead carrier coupled to the guide frame for reciprocating movement along a main scan direction. The printhead carrier includes a cartridge receptacle forming a box-like structure defining an interior space. The receptacle has a carrier floor, a carrier back wall having a bearing member for engaging the guide frame, a carrier side wall, and a carrier side opening located opposite across from the carrier side wall. The printhead cartridge is received through the carrier side opening into the interior space during a cartridge loading operation. A door is coupled to the cartridge receptacle adjacent the carrier side opening. The door has an open position to facilitate insertion of the printhead cartridge through the carrier side opening into the interior space, and a latched position to facilitate containment of the printhead cartridge in the cartridge receptacle.
