  • Patent number: 6272938
Abstract: A sampling device can monitor contaminants in groundwater. The sampling device comprises a semi-permeable membrane for contact with groundwater, in which the semi-permeable membrane is permeable to contaminants and impermeable to groundwater; an inner chamber formed by the semi-permeable membrane for containing the contaminants from the groundwater that diffuse through the semi-permeable membrane; and a sensor device communicating with the inner chamber. The sensor device is in contact with the contaminants contained within the inner chamber for monitoring the contaminants.

  • Patent number: 6238570
Abstract: A non-iron sulfide is introduced into an iron-containing zone to form ferrous sulfide. A contaminated aqueous composition is then contacted with the ferrous sulfide to react with said contaminants.

  • Patent number: 6197187
Abstract: A method for treating a contaminated media. The method comprises disposing electrodes at the contaminated media, injecting a salt-containing solution into contaminated media, applying an electric voltage between electrodes imposed peripherally to the region, forming ions from the salt-containing solution, and migrating the ions between the electrodes across the contaminated media. The ions of the salt-containing solution migrate into at least a portion of the contaminated media to treat the contaminated media.

  • Patent number: 5750036
Abstract: Addition of ferrous ions to clay and ferric minerals in the ground creates in situ reactive zones which dehalogenate halogenated contaminants in ground water flowing through the reactive zone.
