  • Publication number: 20120043273
Abstract: In one embodiment according to the invention, there is provided a filter device for liquid filtration, the filter device being in fluid communication with a plurality of liquid pathways, at least one pathway of the plurality of liquid pathways having a smallest equivalent fluid flow diameter of the plurality of liquid pathways. The device comprises a filter membrane, and a filter core comprising at least one cross hole in fluid communication with the filter membrane, each cross hole having an equivalent fluid flow diameter. The sum of the equivalent fluid flow diameters of the at least one cross holes does not exceed the smallest equivalent fluid flow diameter of the plurality of liquid pathways.

  • Publication number: 20110163540
Abstract: An operative fluid device (14) comprising a fluoropolymer body portion (24) and a fluoropolymer containment portion (22) connectable to one another for containing the fluid at a fluid sealing connection with two frustoconical surfaces (42, 74) that first confront one another and then engage one another as the connection is made, one of the frustoconical surfaces being convex and the other concave, wherein when the surfaces are confronting one another before they are engaged they are angularly mismatched, and wherein the frustoconical surfaces first sealing contact is at a radially inward annular position on each of the frustoconical surfaces and proximate the interior, and as the mating portions are urged together, the sealing contact expands from the radially inward annular position radially outward to include majority of at least one of the two angularly mismatched frustoconical surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4946603
Abstract: A unique blood filter matrix material is provided which is able to effectively separate whole blood into cellular and noncellular constituents, especially when the whole blood volume is 0.5 milliliters or less. The filter matrix presents an overall negative surface electrical charge to the whole blood and utilizes a mechanism of action to rapidly separate cells from plasma or serum.
