  • Patent number: 10145306
Abstract: A heat shield (44) for an external component, such as a gearbox (42), of a gas turbine engine (20) for limiting heat transfer from the engine (20) to the external component is disclosed. The heat shield (44) may be formed to the shape of the gearbox (42) to reduce the geometric envelope of the gearbox (42) and heat shield (44). The heat shield (44) may be formed by a thin thermal insulation core (50) surrounded by a metal sheet (51). The small thickness of the heat shield (44) also reduces the geometric envelope of the heat shield (44). Since no extra equipment is needed to provide cooling fluid to the gearbox (42), the heat shield (44) reduces the overall weight of the gas turbine engine (20) as well.

  • Publication number: 20170286936
Abstract: A system for purchasing fuel is provided. The system includes, but is no limited to, a local device for retrieving identification information which identifies a fuel dispensing station, the identification information containing information identifying the fuel dispensing station from which fuel is desired to be purchased, and a remote server connected with the local device. Upon receiving the identification information at the local device, the local device automatically forwards the identification information along with a unique identifier to the remote server. The remote server generates and transmits an unlock code to the fuel dispensing station. The unlock code signals the fuel dispensing station to dispense fuel.

  • Patent number: 9777639
Abstract: A turbine engine assembly includes a turbine engine case, a gearbox and a plurality of mounts connecting the gearbox to the case. Each of the mounts includes a linkage and a fuse joint. The linkage extends towards the case substantially in a first direction. The fuse joint is configured to substantially prevent movement between the gearbox and the case when the fuse joint is subject to loading less than a threshold, and to permit a constrained movement between the gearbox and the case when the loading is greater than the threshold. The fuse joint of a first of the mounts has a different configuration than the fuse joint of a second of the mounts.

  • Publication number: 20170149739
Abstract: A mechanism for flexibly securing data is discussed. A data entry device analyzes data from a user with respect to a security industry whitelist and an originator list and an analysis result controls a masking level of the data. The security industry whitelist references types of data that is not subject to industry-defined encryption standards. The originator list references data originators that produce data requiring non-standard handling. The data from the user is transmitted to and further examined for non-compliance with a pre-defined criteria at a computing device.
