  • Publication number: 20080307609
Abstract: A hinge connects a display to a base of a notebook. The display has two sides and a bottom edge. The hinge has a stationary leaf, a bearing, a bracket and two pivoting leaves. The stationary leaf is mounted on the base. The bearing is formed on and at a relative incline to the stationary leaf. The bracket is parallel with respect to the base, but when the bracket rotates on the bearing, the bracket changes angle relative to the base until the bracket corresponds to the incline of the bearing. This raises an end of the bracket over the base and allows the display to rotate.

  • Publication number: 20080271289
Abstract: A hinge assembly attaches a cover pivotally to a base of an electronic device such as a notebook computer and has a base bracket, a pintle and a cover bracket. The base bracket is attached to the base and has a gudgeon. The pintle is mounted securely in the gudgeon in the base bracket. The cover bracket is mounted tightly and rotatably around the pintle and securely on the cover of the electronic device, allows the cover to pivot on the base and has a through ring and a pivoting gudgeon. The through ring is mounted tightly around the pintle and has an open slot to prevent the through ring and the pintle from wearing. The pivoting gudgeon is slightly narrower than the through ring, fastens the pintle to position the cover and has an open slot to prevent the pivoting gudgeon and the pintle from wearing.

  • Publication number: 20080263827
Abstract: A pivotal-axis changing hinge has a stationary leaf, a pivoting leaf, a pintle assembly and a cam. The pivoting leaf and stationary leaf are respectively connected securely to a cover having a rear edge and a keyway and a base having an elongated gudgeon. A parabolic edge is formed at an edge near the elongated gudgeon. The pintle assembly is mounted through the keyway and pivotally through the elongated gudgeon to allow the leaves to pivot along a pivotal axis of the pintle assembly. The cam is mounted on the pintle assembly, rotates simultaneously with the pintle assembly and has a protrusion mounted slidably on the parabolic edge to move the pintle assembly and the cover perpendicularly away from the base when the cover is pivoting. Consequently, the proximal edge of the cover is kept from colliding with the base and the rotating angle of the cover is expanded.

  • Publication number: 20080229544
Abstract: A hinge is connected between a body and a cover of an electronic merchandise, e.g. a notebook, a mobile phone, an electronic dictionary or the like. The hinge has a pintle having an inner end, an outer end and an axial hole formed through the pintle, an inner bracket with a mounting sleeve mounted rotatably around the inner end of the pintle and an outer bracket mounted securely on the outer end of the pintle. Electronic wires can extend through the axial hole in the pintle to be connected between the cover and the body of the electronic merchandise. So, a special way for wiring is unnecessary to be designed in the electronic merchandise and the volume and weight of the electronic merchandise can be further minimized and lightened.

  • Publication number: 20080120811
Abstract: A hinge has a shaft, an adjusting nut, a stationary bracket and a rotating bracket and is mounted in an electronic appliance that has a cover and a base. The shaft has an adjusting thread. The adjusting nut is screwed onto the adjusting thread of the shaft. The stationary bracket connects to the base of the electronic appliance and is attached securely to the shaft. The rotating bracket connects to the cover of the electronic appliance and is mounted around the shaft. Moving the adjusting nut along the adjusting thread pushes the rotating bracket. Therefore, the distance between the rotating bracket and the stationary bracket is adjusted and the position of the rotating bracket and the stationary bracket easily align with the assembling position in the cover and the base of the electronic appliance.

  • Publication number: 20080123257
Abstract: An electronic transmission port cover assembly has a body, a sliding bracket and a cover. The body is mounted securely in an electronic device adjacent to an electronic transmission port. The sliding bracket is mounted slidably on the body. The cover is attached pivotally to the sliding bracket and has cover springs. The sliding bracket is pushed relative to the body and the cover is pushed away from the body and pivots relative to the sliding bracket to uncover the transmission port.

  • Publication number: 20080120808
Abstract: A limited travel hinge has a pintle, a leaf and a limit. The pintle has an inner end connected securely to a base of a portable electronic device. The leaf has a stop, is mounted pivotally on the pintle, connects securely to a panel of the electronic device that allows the panel to pivot relative to the base. The limit is mounted securely on the pintle and has a recessed edge defined partially around the limit, is mounted slidably against the stop of the leaf and has two ends corresponding to and selectively abutting the stop. With such an arrangement, the limited travel hinge is simple and is assembled easily, which effectively reduces the cost and facilitates fabrication.

  • Publication number: 20070283533
Abstract: A hinge assembly could be installed between a panel and a base of an LCD and has a body, an active leaf and two mounting leaves. The body has two sides and two protrusions formed on the two sides respectively. The active leaf has two mounting portions mounted pivotally with the mounting leaves respectively and each mounting portion has a retainer. The mounting leaves are mounted pivotally on the two sides of the body and each mounting leaf has a slide slot with a folding end and an active slot with a latching end. The slide slots hold the protrusions respectively and the active slots hold the retainers. When the protrusions reach the folding ends, the panel and the base is folded into a flat status and encasing or transporting of the LCD is convenient.

  • Publication number: 20070199179
Abstract: A hinge pivotally connects to a cover and a base of an electrical appliance and has a stationary-positioning element, a rotating-positioning element and a buffering spacer. The stationary-positioning element is mounted securely in the base and has at least one positioning protrusion. The rotating-positioning element is mounted securely in the cover and has at least one positioning detent corresponding to the positioning protrusion when the cover is closed. The buffering spacer is attached to the rotating-positioning element to let the stationary-positioning element and the rotating-positioning element in constant contact, which results in friction between the stationary-positioning element and the rotating-positioning element being uniform. Therefore, the hinge as described makes less noise.

  • Patent number: 7222396
Abstract: A robust hinge has a redundant positioning capability, is mounted between a cover and a base and has a keyed pivot pin, a rotating leaf, a stationary leaf and a spacer assembly. The rotating leaf is attached to the keyed pivot pin and connects to the cover. The stationary leaf is mounted around the keyed pivot pin, connects to the base and has a primary stationary positioning element. The spacer assembly is mounted around the keyed pivot pin and has primary and secondary rotating positioning elements and a secondary stationary positioning element. Each stationary positioning element has a detent. Each rotating positioning element has a protrusion corresponding to the detent. The protrusions engage the detents to provide the redundant positioning capability to keep the cover form hitting the base. Two pairs of protrusions and detents provide the redundant positioning capability.

  • Publication number: 20060236504
Abstract: A hinge has a sleeve and a shaft and is mounted between a cover and a base of an electrical device. The sleeve is hollow, is attached to the base and has an internal diameter. The shaft is attached to the cover, is mounted pivotally in the sleeve and has a hollow torsion rod. The torsion rod has an external diameter, an opening end and multiple slots. The external diameter of the torsion rod is bigger than the internal diameter of the sleeve to provide friction. The slots are formed in the torsion rod without communicating with the opening end to provide uniform friction. Because the torsion rod is hollow to provide spaces for the torsion rod to be deformed, the torsion rod maintains its shape. Therefore the torsion rod provides uniform friction with the sleeve.
