Abstract: A method for processing checks includes capturing check data from a check with a capture device of a check processing system, where the check data includes payee information. A category of the check is identified based at least in part on the payee information. A user account is updated with the category and at least a portion of the check data. A first edit to the check data is received from a user. A handwriting profile of the user is updated based on the first received edit. The handwriting profile is used to improve the accuracy of subsequently captured check data.
