Patent number: 9672577Abstract: A method for estimating component power usage using aggregate power usage data are provided in the illustrative embodiments. A power estimation model is received, the model correlating a factor of the component with an aggregate power consumption of a set of components during a period, the component being a member of the set of components, the component being a hardware device operating in the data processing environment and consuming electrical power, the factor being a characteristic of the component related to the consumption of the electrical power in the component. A value of the factor at a determined time is received. The value of the factor is applied to the power estimation model to generate an estimate of electrical power consumed by the component. The estimate is output as the estimated power usage of the component when the factor attains the value.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 2013Date of Patent: June 6, 2017Assignee: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Todd Dickson Gatts, Jason Karl Yellick

Publication number: 20170079629Abstract: Several embodiments disclosed herein relate to apparatus and methods for treating a diverticulum. In some examples, disclosed is a clip placement device for diverticulum inversion. The clip placement device can include a clip tube, a clip, a clip attachment structure, and an expansion apparatus. A method for clip placement for diverticulum inversion can also be included. The method can include positioning the distal end of a clip placement device along an outer wall of a colon at a diverticulum, inverting the diverticulum, and advancing a portion of the clip placement device into the inverted diverticulum. The diverticulum can then be expanded with the expansion apparatus. The method can then include engaging the clip with the diverticulum, and withdrawing the clip placement device in a proximal direction such that that clip attachment structure disengages from the clip from the clip placement device.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 18, 2015Publication date: March 23, 2017Inventors: Sam Malanowski, Todd Dickson

Patent number: 9052881Abstract: A method for discovering thermal relationships in a data processing environment is provided in the illustrative embodiments. An output temperature of a cooling unit operating in the data processing environment is changed from a previous output temperature to a new output temperature. The difference between the previous and the new output temperatures is a change in the output temperature. A change in an ambient temperature proximate to a data processing system is measured. The change in the ambient temperature is a difference between a previous ambient temperature and a new ambient temperature. An expression that represents a relationship between the change in the output temperature and corresponding change in the ambient temperature is determined. The expression is used to determine a cooling correspondence between the cooling unit and the data processing system.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2012Date of Patent: June 9, 2015Assignee: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Todd Dickson Gatts, Denilson Nastacio, Preethi C.
