  • Publication number: 20160304085
Abstract: Systems and methods for shifting a transmission of a hybrid driveline that includes an electric machine that operates in a regeneration mode are presented. The systems and methods may adjust a feedforward motor torque command via an adaptive parameter in response to an error that is based on percentage of shift complete.

  • Publication number: 20160304075
Abstract: Systems and methods for shifting a transmission of a hybrid driveline that include a torque converter with a lockup clutch are presented. The systems and methods may adjust a feedforward motor torque command to match application of motor torque to a time that a gear clutch closes so that shifting may be improved and so that driveline torque disturbances may be less noticeable.

  • Publication number: 20160229393
Abstract: A traction motor of a hybrid electric vehicle drives a primary pump to provide pressurized hydraulic fluid to engage a power flow path of a multi-ratio transmission. To reduce fuel consumption, the motor is maintained at zero speed until a shift lever is moved into a drive position. After a power flow path is established, the motor speed is again reduced to zero until a driver demands torque by pressing an accelerator pedal. While the traction motor is stationary, an auxiliary pump maintains the fluid pressure to keep the transmission power flow path engaged.

  • Publication number: 20160214599
Abstract: A vehicle includes an engine, an electric machine, an engine disconnect clutch, and a transmission input configured to transmit power from the engine and electric machine to a transmission. The vehicle also includes a controller program to close the disconnect clutch and start the engine before downshifting in response to an anticipated transmission downshift in which a predicted speed of the transmission input after the downshift will be outside a predetermined speed range or a torque capacity of the electric machine will be less than a predicted required torque after the downshift.

  • Publication number: 20160137190
Abstract: A hybrid electric vehicle includes an engine, an electric motor, a transmission gearbox, and a clutch selectively coupling the engine to the electric motor. Engine speed can drop dramatically when operating at high speeds during a scheduled shift event in the gearbox. To reduce the effects felt by the engine speed change, at least one controller is provided and programmed to slip the clutch when locked in response to a drive torque, estimated to be present upon completion of an anticipated shift event, exceeding available negative torque, such as regenerative torque and engine braking torque.

  • Patent number: 9296380
Abstract: A hybrid vehicle includes an engine and an electric machine selectively coupled to one another via a clutch. In one mode of operation, the vehicle can be propelled by only the electric machine while the engine is off. When additional torque is required from the engine, at least one controller transmits an engine start request. In order to start the engine, the clutch can be prestroked such that it fills with pressure prior to the engine to start the engine. While the vehicle is on, at least one controller is programmed to prestroke the clutch prior to the engine start request based at least upon the electric machine and the engine generating substantially zero torque. This reduces the overall engine start time.

  • Publication number: 20160059840
Abstract: Systems and methods for improving transmission gear shifting of a hybrid vehicle are presented. The systems and methods prepare the hybrid vehicle for conditions that may occur after a requested gear shift is performed. In one example, a motor speed that would occur after a downshift, if the downshift were allowed to occur, is determined and control actions may be taken in response to the predicted motor speed.
