Abstract: A color image pickup device suppresses false color signals in order to provide true color reproduction. That is, the device incrementally or continuously reduces false color signals. More particularly, this device includes a color separation filter through which an optical image passes to an image pickup device such as a CCD sensor or the like. A suppression circuit that includes a low pass filter and a high brightness detector detects when the brightness of the optical image exceeds a predetermined level. A color signal forming circuit forms a plurality of color signals from the output of the image pickup device and this plurality of color signals are output by a sequencing circuit in a predetermined cycle. The output level of the sequencing circuit is adjusted in response to the output of the detector by a control circuit, and this output is modulated by a modulator.

Abstract: An image sensing device comprises a stop to control the quantity of light coming from an object to be photographed; an image sensor; an automatic light quantity control system to control the stop according to a signal produced from the image sensor; a gain control circuit to control the gain of the signal produced from the image sensor; an operation member provided for manually operating the stop; and a memory to stabilize the gain of the gain control circuit in response to the operation member when the member is operated.

Abstract: The disclosed image sensing device includes a sensing arrangement for converting an optical image into an electrical signal; an iris for adjusting the quantity of light supplied to the image sensing arrangement; gain control circuits for adjusting amplification gains of monochrome or color difference signals obtained from the image sensing arrangement; a peak detecting arrangement for detecting the peak values of the monochrome or color difference signals; a balance control for controlling the gain control circuits for white balance adjustment according to the signals obtained from the peak detecting arrangement; and an iris control for controlling the iris such that the output of the image sensing arrangement becomes lower when the gain control circuits are under the control of the balance control than when they are under a normal photographic condition.

Abstract: An image pickup device for picking up an image of a subject by using a solid-state image pickup array having a number of photo-electric conversion cells arranged in a matrix is disclosed a selector for selecting a first mode in which signal charges of at least two of the photo-electric conversion cells are combinationally read and a second mode in which the signal charges are read separately for each of the photo-electric conversion cells is provided, and an amplification factor for the read signal is varied in accordance with the mode selected.
