Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and method for preventing product theft using a security package for a product. The system, in one embodiment, includes a package custom designed for each product such that the package may not easily be removed without the assistance of a tool. The package further includes a security device placed on the inside of the package not easily viewable by the customer where the security device activates a security system placed at the exits of a retail establishment. The package, in one embodiment, is constructed from a material that cannot be easily torn such as rigid vinyl. The package is constructed by die cutting the material, attaching the security device, wrapping the material around the product and sealing the package using an adhesive that creates an extremely strong bond between overlapping portions of the material.
