  • Patent number: 5443355
Abstract: A vehicle having a bed which is pivotal from a trash collection position to a trash dumping position. The bed is provided with inner walls for dividing the interior of the bed into three compartments, a central compartment for receiving paper and two side compartments for receiving, respectively, metal materials and glass materials. The central compartment has a push blade which forces paper materials rearwardly toward a rear access door. The blade carries two skimmer plates in respective side compartments for skimming the top piles of waste materials in the two side compartments. The bed is provided with rear side openings covered by doors which, when opened, allow materials to move out of the side compartments when the bed it tilted.

  • Patent number: 5074737
Abstract: A vehicle having a bed pivotal from a trash collection position to a trash dumping position. The bed has inner walls for forming three compartments, a central compartment for receiving paper and two side compartments for receiving, respectively, metal materials and glass materials. The central compartment has a pusher ram which forces paper materials rearwardly toward a rear access door. The blade carries two skimmer plates in respective side compartments for skimming the top piles of waste materials in the two side compartments. The bed has rear side openings covered by doors which, when opened, allow materials to exit the side compartments when the bed is tilted. The vehicle has a lifting structure provided with a pair of pivotal blades for placement in the side guides of a container to be lifted into a dumping position above the top, front opening of the bed.

  • Patent number: 5035564
Abstract: A truck body has at least one vertical, longitudinal divider forming two compartments. Separate chutes are located on the top of the body, one communicating with each compartment so that one particular type of refuse (e.g., paper, aluminum cans and glass) may be dumped into a specific chute to fall by gravity into a compartment. The body may be tilted to shift all refuse to the rear. Each type refuse is discharged through a separate door at the rear. Bins are lifted vertically by hydraulic means to the top of the body and then tilted to dump into chutes. The bins are tucked under the body during transportation to reduce overall width. Further, the bins fan outward to facilitate loading. Wheeled carts filled with refuse may be hooked to the upper edges of the bins so that the carts and bins may be tilted at the upper end of their travel to dump into the chutes.

  • Patent number: 4352624
Abstract: A refuse compaction trailer of the type used with a stationary packer positioned adjacent to the rear of the trailer to compact refuse into the body of the trailer. The body of the trailer has a rear portion shaped to prevent spillage outside the trailer after removing the trailer from the stationary packer. The body of the trailer includes sloped side walls which define the opening for a stationary packer. A rear overhead door is adapted to slide up and down inside tracks in the sloped side walls. The shape of the rear of the trailer body permits the rear wheels of the trailer to be moved back under the packer extension to reduce loading on the rear wheels.
