Abstract: A method is disclosed of providing driver behaviour based insurance comprising accessing a digital map having data indicative of a plurality of navigable segments, wherein the digital map further comprises data representative of a speed distribution profile for one or more positions along at least one of the navigable segments, the speed distribution profile for a position being indicative of the speed of multiple drivers at the position. The data representative of a speed distribution profile is used to set a recommended speed for vehicles travelling along the at least one navigable segment. The speed of a subscriber driver is monitored when travelling along the at least one navigable segment to obtain data regarding the speed of the driver relative to the recommended speed for at least one of the one or more positions, and the relative speed data is used as an input to a model of a user based insurance system.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining the manner in which a processor-enabled device should produce sounds from data is described. The device ideally synthesizes sounds digitally, and reproduces pre-recorded sounds, together with an audible delivery thereof, a memory in which is stored a database of a plurality data at least some of which is in the form of text-based indicators, and one or more pre-recorded sounds device is further capable of repeatedly determining one or more physical conditions, e.g. current GPS location, which is compared with one or more reference values provided in memory such that a positive result of the comparison gives rise to an event requiring a sound to be produced by the device.

Abstract: A navigation device is disclosed. In at least one embodiment, the navigation device includes a storage device to store map information and points of interest (POIs), the POIs including description information and location information; and a display to display stored POIs at a location of the map information, based upon the location information, POIs being selectively retrievable from a remote location for subsequent storage and display.

Abstract: A computerised method of generating a route 1000 from an origin position F1 to a destination position 706 across an electronic map 700 comprising a plurality of vectors representing segments of a navigable route in the area covered by the electronic map 700, the method comprising: (1) obtaining delay data indicating delays on vectors within the area covered by the electronic map 700; (2) calculating a first portion 1002 of a route from origin position toward the destination position 706 using a first routing method up to a predetermined threshold 1006 from the origin position F1, such that the first routing method uses the delay data so that the first portion 1002 of the route takes into account delays; and (3) calculating a second portion 1004 of the route beyond the predetermined threshold 1006 to the destination position 706 using a second routing method to further calculate the route to the destination position 1006.
