  • Patent number: 4496990
Abstract: When copying cinematographic film onto color video tape there is ensured a given, desired mutual phase position between the picture frames of the film and a periodic signal component in the composite video signal recorded on the video tape, said periodic signal component extending over an integral number of picture frames. This is effected by splicing onto one end of the film (F) a film leader (FS) which is provided with a periodically repeated sequence of at least two mutually sequential picture frames (FS1, FS2) having mutually different, clearly discernible picture contents, for example one being dark and the other being light. The film (F) is fed into the telecine equipment (1) used for the copying process, with the film leader (FS) first.

  • Patent number: 4496991
Abstract: In a method for editing kinematographic color picture material which, when finalized, shall have the form of a color video tape, the following procedural steps are carried out. The original picture material, which may either have the form of a color film or a color video tape, is transferred onto the other material form so as to obtain both a film copy and a video tape copy with the same picture content. The film copy is provided with a continuous periodically occurring, visual marking, with the guidance of which it is possible to determine for each film frame the location of the corresponding video image on the video tape copy within the periodic video field sequence of the video signal. When using the PAL-system, every second film frame is advantageously provided with a marking, which marking may have two different forms used alternatively with one another.

  • Patent number: 4466714
Abstract: An apparatus for listing cinematographic film comprises means (1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7) for reversible feeding of film past an index position and for generating electric signals representing each picture frame fed past the index position and the direction in which the film is fed. A counter (8) driven by said electric signals is arranged to count the net number of picture frames fed past the index position in a given direction. Means (9, 19) are also provided for visually displaying to an operator an enlarged form of the film section located at the index position. A data processor (11) provided with a data input keyboard (12) is connected to the counter and arranged to calculate positional information concerning desired picture frames in the film, on the basis of data entered into the processor through the keyboard and the content of the counter, and to store this positional information in a data storage.
