  • Patent number: 5347624
Abstract: A graphic display method and apparatus including a plurality of virtual device coordinate systems independent of a coordinate system of a physical screen in which a graphic image to be displayed is independently drawn in a virtual device space of the corresponding virtual device coordinate system so as to map a specified area of each virtual device space onto the virtual screen at a specified position, thereby displaying a specified area of a virtual memory in a physical screen. Furthermore, code data of characters and graphics and image data are written in a logical screen buffer as drawing elements to be located at arbitrary positions of the logical screen such that a unit, specifying an area which is located at an arbitrary position and which has an arbitrary size in the logical screen causes the combining and editing of character, graphic, and image data already written in the specified area of the logical screen and the generating, as a result, of new image data.

  • Patent number: 4937784
Abstract: A distributed interactive processing in a complex computer system including a plurality of work stations (IWS's), each having predetermined server processes, at least a host computer (HOST), communication lines interconnecting between the plurality of IWS's and the HOSTs, and communication control portions to establish and to control communication paths between processes to conduct a process-to-process communication between the IWS's and the HOSTs. Each IWS has therein a process to implement an assigned processing request and a request control section to analyze the processing request issued by the own IWS and to determine a server process required to implement the processing request. Among a result of the request analysis, a predetermined server process is executed in the own IWS.

  • Patent number: 4782442
Abstract: The present invention is directed to time-sharing computer system which includes a host computer system which operates in response to a host TSS command, a terminal computer system which is connected to the host computer system through a line and operates in response to a terminal TSS command, and a plurality of terminals which are connected to the terminal computer system. In this time-sharing system, the data processing in a terminal computer in response to a terminal TSS command input and the subsequent data processing in the host computer system in response to a host TSS command input can be carried out freely when the terminal is in a state of interaction with the host computer, without carrying out an end command of the host TSS a mode exchange operation. For this purpose, the system adopts the concept of a multiplexed TSS, which enables plural sessions to be simultaneously executed by the host computer system and the terminal computer system.

  • Patent number: 4769636
Abstract: In a multi-window system for setting a plurality of windows on the screen for independent display in each window, a novel display control method is disclosed in which a visible region of a given window is determined from the positions and overlapped relations between the windows on the display screen, and display data is selectively applied to the visible region. The visible region is checked for crossing between an object window and another window making up a reference window on the screen, and if they cross each other, the object window is divided into subregions, while the subregion not overlapped with the reference window is regarded as a new object region, which is collated with another reference window and subdivided. This process of collation and division is repeated. A display output is thus applied sequentially to the subregions which are found to be a visible region.

  • Patent number: 4665478
Abstract: A computer system comprises a memory for storing communication history information between a terminal and an execution program, and an output message file for storing sets of communication history conditions and output messages corresponding to those conditions. When the terminal issues a message output request, only the output message that meets the communication history condition is selected from the output message file and outputted to the terminal.
