  • Patent number: 5094212
Abstract: A throttle body assembly for supplying a mixture of fuel and air to an intake port of an internal combustion engine, integrally incorporating a fuel injection valve, a fuel pump, a fuel supply passage defined in the throttle body and extending from the fuel pump to the fuel injection valve, and a fuel pressure control valve directly incorporated in the throttle body to control pressure of fuel in the fuel supply passage. Thus, there is no need to use an external tubing system for supplying and returning fuel to and from the fuel injection valve, and the throttle body assemby may be simplified in structure so as to facilitate the assembling and servicing of the throttle body assembly. Further, an electronic control unit and sensors associated with the control unit are both directly mounted on the throttle body so that wiring around the throttle body may be eliminated.

  • Patent number: 4958984
Abstract: A circular hole through which a main shaft of a fuel pump is inserted is defined at the central portion of an impeller, one or plural pin holes are so defined around the circular hole that the centroidal position is not deviated from the rotational central axis, a first engaging portion is formed at an end of the main shaft to be inserted into the impeller, and a coupler provided with a second engaging portion which engages with the first engaging portion and a pin or pins to be inserted into the pin holes is used to secure the impeller to the main shaft. These members are so arranged that the impeller and the coupler are located respectively in point or line symmetry with respect to the rotational central axis of the armature in the pump or the main shaft, i.e. the respective centers of gravity of the main shaft, impeller and coupler are positioned on the rotational central axis of the armature in the pump so that the armature keeps its balance.

  • Patent number: 4598370
Abstract: This invention provides an apparatus for the control of acceleration and deceleration of an automobile, which enlarges the ratio of increase in the real speed of the automobile while the automobile is accelerated from its auto-cruise condition and precludes overshoot and hunting of the real speed of the automobile after the acceleration or deceleration is completed and the resumption of constant-speed travel is started. In the course of acceleration, the throttle opening angle is first increased abruptly by a predetermined amount and then increased as the function of time and, upon disappearance of an acceleration signal, the throttle opening angle is decreased by an amount based on the real speed of the automobile as it exists at that moment.

  • Patent number: 4591986
Abstract: This invention provides an apparatus for the control of the transition to auto-cruise, which is capable of precluding detrimental phenomena such as dipping and hunting of the automobile speed while the control of the automobile speed is in transition from the manual status to the automatic status. In accordance to this invention, when the auto-cruise status is set, the apparatus unconditionally effects an initial setting of the throttle position to a provisional target throttle position which is dependent on the automobile speed as it exists at that moment, namely the target speed of the automobile, and thereafter the apparatus detects the deviation of the real speed of the automobile from the target automobile speed and, based on this deviation, effects feedback control of the throttle position.

  • Patent number: 4538577
Abstract: An intake passage for an internal combustion engine is provided on the downstream side of a throttle valve with a fuel injection nozzle connected through a fuel passage to a fuel pump and is additionally provided on the upstream side thereof with an air metering valve arranged to be turned towards its opening side according to increase in an intake negative pressure, and the fuel passage is provided with a fuel metering valve interposed therein. The fuel metering valve is formed into a slidable type spool valve, a valve body thereof is disposed in parallel with a valve body of the air metering valve and a lever is swingably supported at its middle portion and is in engagement at its one end with a cam mounted on a turning shaft of the air metering valve and is in engagement at its other end with a valve rod projecting from one end portion of the fuel metering valve.

  • Patent number: 4527527
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for controlling an opening angle or a position of a throttle valve on complete firing in an internal combustion engine until the said engine has shifted to a situation of warm-up after the said engine started and the complete firing thereof was sensed. The control apparatus is so constructed that the throttle valve is closed at high speed to a predetermined opening angle which has an intermediate value between a starting position and a warming-up position when complete firing of the engine is sensed, and thereafter the throttle valve is driven to close until it reaches the warming-up position at a relatively low speed.

  • Patent number: 4498440
Abstract: A mixture control apparatus for a carburetor which precludes otherwise possible occurrence of fluctuation in the opening angle of the throttle valve even when the engine operation happens to fall near the boundary between the cold state and the hot state. The electric motor for driving the throttle valve is prevented from moving to the side of reverse rotation thereof from the side of normal rotation thereof past a home position after said engine has been changed to its hot state and unless a stop of said engine is detected.
