  • Publication number: 20240181670
Abstract: A debarking drum (1) for the debarking of wood (2) has an essentially horizontal cylindrical drum (10) supported to revolve around its longitudinal axis. The drum has a first end (12) and a second end (14) with an inner surface with inwardly projecting longitudinally extending debarking iron sections (16). Bark openings or slots (20) extend through the drum inner surface (18) and multiple rigid studs (22) protrude inwardly from the inner surface (18) and are positioned between the debarking iron sections (16). The studs operate to break the bark (3) of the wood (2) for debarking. The studs (22) are positioned along a partial length (L) of the drum (10) between the first end (12) and the second end (14). The invention also relates to a method and system for the debarking of wood by the debarking drum.

  • Patent number: 9393713
Abstract: A disc chipper having a knife disc having a plurality of segments, each segment separated from an adjacent by a chip opening extending segment approximately in the radial direction of the knife disc between the inner and outer peripheries of the knife disc. The disc chipper further has at least one knife for each segment, located in the segment in the vicinity of the chip opening preceding it in the rotational direction and extending a distance axially from said knife disc and supported between two opposing surfaces. The disc chipper further includes at least one wedge element for each segment, adapted to adjust the position of at least one of the opposing surfaces relative to the knife disc, for setting the axial reach of said knife to a desired value. Characteristically, the wedge element is situated in the segment essentially at the end adjacent to the preceding chip opening.

  • Patent number: 7600545
Abstract: The present invention concerns an apparatus for receiving and feeding into a chipper wood to be chipped, said apparatus containing a feed conveyor receiving log bundles, a tumbling drum breaking the bundles, and a receiving conveyor. The feed conveyor is speed-controlled according to the position information of a log bundle, and the speed of rotation of the tumbling drum is adjusted depending on the amount of wood discharged from the drum. The position information of the log bundle is received for example from the torque moment or input power of the drives of the drum. Thereby the speed of the feed conveyor, respectively the rotation speed of the drum, is set to slow down as a result of the increasing toque moment or input power of the drum, respectively to speed up as a result of the decreasing torque moment or input power.

  • Publication number: 20080185073
Abstract: The present invention concerns an apparatus for receiving and feeding into a chipper wood to be chipped, said apparatus comprising a feed conveyor (12) receiving log bundles (1?), a tumbling drum (13) breaking the bundles, and a receiving conveyor (7?). The feed conveyor (12) is speed-controlled according to the position information of a log bundle (1?), and the speed of rotation of the tumbling drum (13) is adjusted depending on the amount of wood discharged from the drum.
