  • Patent number: 11916200
Abstract: The disclosure herein relates to rechargeable batteries and solid electrolytes therefore which include lithium-stuffed garnet oxides, for example, in a thin film, pellet, or monolith format wherein the density of defects at a surface or surfaces of the solid electrolyte is less than the density of defects in the bulk. In certain disclosed embodiments, the solid-state anolyte, electrolyte, and catholyte thin films, separators, and monoliths consist essentially of an oxide that conducts Li+ ions. In some examples, the disclosure herein presents new and useful solid electrolytes for solid-state or partially solid-state batteries. In some examples, the disclosure presents new lithium-stuffed garnet solid electrolytes and rechargeable batteries which include these electrolytes as separators between a cathode and a lithium metal anode.

  • Patent number: 8961821
Abstract: A process of treating a gas stream containing mercury and acid gas pollutants is disclosed. The process includes applying a sorbent composition into a gas stream in order to adsorb mercury containing compounds and acid gas pollutants. The sorbent composition includes a compound having the formula (SiO2)x(OH)yMzSaF.B. The combination of basic inorganic solids for the adsorption of acid gases, and metal sulfide-doped silica for the adsorption of mercury provides dual sorbent functionality, along with additional benefits for each individual sorbent: silica for moisture retention on the surface of the basic inorganic particle and adsorption of acid gas, which will improve metal sulfide performance at higher operating temperatures. The use of a hygroscopic solid effectively dries the metal sulfide-doped silica slurry without the use of filtration of drying equipment, providing significant economic benefit for the manufacture of metal sulfide-doped silica material.

  • Publication number: 20110164406
Abstract: A bag includes a lamp device that includes a plurality of LED chips disposed spacedly in a tube body of a transparent tube and coupled in parallel between first and second conducting wires of a wire unit, and a power source for supplying electric power to the LED chips through the wire unit. The transparent tube has a connecting flange extending outwardly and radially from an outer surface of the tube body, and clamped and fixed between ends of flexible first and second outer sheets of a bag body such that the tube body is disposed at a junction of the first and second outer sheets.

  • Publication number: 20110119686
Abstract: A method of monitoring the operational status of a hard disk drive in an external data storage assembly is provided. The hard disk drive supports S.M.A.R.T., and the external data storage assembly includes the hard disk drive, a connection interface coupled to a computer host, and an interface bridge interconnecting the connection interface and the hard disk drive. The method includes: (A) when an OS of the computer host identifies the external data storage assembly, enabling the computer host to send a SCSI read command to the connection interface of the external data storage assembly; and (B) enabling the interface bridge to relay the SCSI read command from the connection interface to the hard disk drive such that the hard disk drive transmits S.M.A.R.T. information to the computer host through the interface bridge and the connection interface according to the SCSI read command.

  • Patent number: 4031660
Abstract: There is disclosed a conventional-type action toy in which a moving element, e.g., a wheel, is provided with a magnetized axle which rotates and moves back and forth along essentially parallel metal rails. In the prior art, means have not been provided for illuminating the moving element by providing a bulb therein, primarily because of the difficulty of mounting batteries within the small-size element. In accordance with the principles of the invention, the batteries are mounted in a compartment to which the ends of the rails are connected, the ends of the rails being connected to terminals of opposite polarities. The bulb, mounted inside the moving element, is connected to the two ends of the magnetized axle which rotates along the rails. Current thus flows through the rails and the axle to the bulb.
