Patent number: 8814452Abstract: An ejection assembly for a printer is provided, the ejection assembly being disposed downstream of a print head in order to receive web from the print head. The ejection assembly can include an ejection roller and a door having a closed configuration and an open configuration. The door can be biased toward the closed configuration and toward the ejection roller. Upon rotation of the ejection roller, the ejection roller can force the door from the closed configuration to the open configuration and can eject web past the door from the printer. In some embodiments, the ejection roller is rotated one full cycle, the ejection roller permits accumulation of web received from the print head and subsequently forces the door from the closed configuration to the open configuration and ejects the accumulated web past the door from the printer. Also provided are a corresponding printer and method.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 2012Date of Patent: August 26, 2014Assignee: ZIH Corp.Inventor: Karl Tommy Wincent

Patent number: 5251546Abstract: A system for identification, separation and compacting of empty beverage cans including a first device for distinguishing between cans to be accepted and not accepted and rejecting non-acceptable cans, and for detecting at least one dimension of a can to be compacted, and for determining a can redemption value based on such detection, and a second device for compacting the can through interaction of a three arm device, a first arm contacting a mid-portion of the can and compressing that mid portion, and second and third arms acting on end regions on either side of the mid-portion to compress the remaining portions of the can. The arm device is retracted and the compacted can is removed after the compressing action is completed by the arm device.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 1992Date of Patent: October 12, 1993Assignee: Tomra Systems A/SInventors: Halvor Wergeland, Tore Planke, Tommy Wincent

Patent number: 5215393Abstract: A device for feeding documents, such as receipts (K) to a receiver from a printing apparatus which prints information on the documents. The device includes means (9-13) which prevents the documents from being fed out and made available to the receiver until all information has been printed on the document, means (2) for making a document, the feeding of which is prevented through an outlet opening (4), unavailable to the receiver, and means (9-12) for transportation of the document to a place where it does not prevent the feeding of further documents through the outlet opening.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 1992Date of Patent: June 1, 1993Assignee: Swecoin ABInventor: Tommy Wincent

Patent number: 4415287Abstract: A printing device comprises a print head and a plurality of data carriers, the print head being able to print data on at least one of the plurality of data carriers; a motor for moving said print head along said data carriers; said print head being adapted to rest at one of a plurality of home positions when said print head is not in movement; said motor being reversible to change the direction of movement of said print head; a switch coupled to and controlled by said motor; said switch being controlled by said motor to assume a plurality of states, each of said states corresponding to the location the said print head at a particular one of said print head home positions; and a printing control unit for selecting which of said data carriers is to receive data printed thereon by said print head; said printing control unit being electrically coupled to said switch and to said motor; said printing control unit also acting in response to the state of said switch to select the direction of movement of said motor mType: GrantFiled: March 20, 1981Date of Patent: November 15, 1983Assignee: Westrex Company, AsiaInventor: Tommy Wincent

Patent number: 4317635Abstract: In a matrix printing head (1) including at least one printing needle (9), an electromagnet (2), which is provided with an armature (4) co-operating with the printing needle for moving the latter towards a printing position, and a spring (6) for returning the needle in a direction from the printing position, the printing needle is pivotably and detachably connected to the armature (4) by means of said spring (6). The pivotable connection is accomplished by the printing needle (9) being provided with a curved end (9b) pivotably supported in a groove (4c) in the armature (4). The curved end of the needle is retained in this groove by means of said spring (6). The armature (4) is pivotably supported in a notch (5b) in a yoke (5) carrying a plurality of electromagnets (2) and is detachably supported in the notch by means of said spring (6).Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 1980Date of Patent: March 2, 1982Assignee: Svenska Kassaprinter ABInventors: Roland Englund, Tommy Wincent
