  • Publication number: 20140140747
Abstract: A printing apparatus includes an input unit, a specifying unit, a storing unit, a printing unit, a receiving unit, and a control unit. The specifying unit specifies a number of sheets for printing image data pieces of a plurality of pages. The receiving unit receives a binding process execution instruction. When the sheets are printed in the reverse order and the printed sheets are bound, the printing unit had started the reverse order printing after all the image data pieces were stored. When (i) the sheets are to be printed in the reverse order and the binding process is set to be executed and (ii) it is determined, while the storing unit is storing the image data pieces, that the specified number of sheets exceeds the number of sheets that can be bound, the printing unit starts printing in the page order before all the image data pieces are stored.

  • Patent number: 8520249
Abstract: A procedure through which a device is started up when power is introduced is fixed. Consequently, if there is a job that has been suspended owing to cut-off of power the length of time from re-introduction of power to resumption of the suspended job is too long. In order to solve this problem, an image processing apparatus, which enables execution of a plurality of jobs by starting up a plurality of software modules, is so adapted that in a case where a job being executed is suspended, execution information indicating status of execution of the job at the time of suspension is stored. The suspended job is resumed based on the execution information. Specifically, in resuming the suspended job, a group of software modules relating to the suspended job is started up before other software modules.

  • Patent number: 8305603
Abstract: An object of this invention is to allow deleting/updating firmware at high speed and properly deleting/updating a software part for executing a job without posing any problem in a general job in an image processing apparatus which executes a job by combining a plurality of independent software parts. For this purpose, when updating one software part associated with an image processing job, it is determined whether a standby job as a job contains a software part to be updated. If it is determined that the standby job does not contain any software part to be updated, the software part is updated. If it is determined that the standby job contains the software part to be updated but a software part in another image processing apparatus on the network can replace the software part to be updated, software parts which execute the job are reconstructed to update the target software part. If it is determined that no alternative image processing apparatus exists, the update request is saved and held.

  • Publication number: 20110279871
Abstract: It is determined whether or not there is an available area to store composite image data, in addition to inputted image data, in a storage device for storage of image data. When it is determined that there is an available area, the composite image data obtained by combining is stored in addition to the input image data. When it is determined that there is no available area, the input image data is stored into the storage device. Upon image formation, when composite image data is stored in the storage device, an image is formed in accordance with the composite image data. When it is determined that composite image data is not stored, an image is formed by generating composite image data based on image data read from the storage device.
