  • Patent number: 7623187
Abstract: In the video display apparatus according to the present invention, a number of video formats are made to correspond to either of two types of display formats, a screen size having an aspect ratio of 16 to 9 and a screen size having an aspect ratio of 4 to 3, in advance. Accordingly, the display format is also changed to the corresponding display format, together with the selection of the video format that includes either the image signals having the aspect ratios of 16 to 9 or 4 to 3 by the user, and therefore, the display format for image signals can be easily changed during reproduction, with a single selection operation.

  • Patent number: 7561505
Abstract: There is provided a disk apparatus adapted to allow the rotational frequency of an optical disk to reach a predetermined rotational frequency soon for shifting to a reproducing operation, when setting up the rotation of the optical disk, even if the optical disk may have a large weight. The change in the rotational frequency of an optical disk is detected at a predetermined time interval; the rotational acceleration of the optical disk is calculated based on the detected change in the rotational frequency of the optical disk at the predetermined time interval; it is determined whether or not the weight of the optical disk is greater than that of a reference optical disk based on the difference between the calculated rotational acceleration of the optical disk and the rotational acceleration of the reference optical disk; and the driving voltage of a spindle motor is increased if it is determined that the weight of the optical disk is greater than that of the reference optical disk.

  • Publication number: 20050265609
Abstract: In a screen saver image creation mode, a microprocessor reads, from a DVD placed on a tray, original data for a screen saver image and the contents of a text file having parameters specifying the background color, the motion, and the size of the screen saver image, and automatically creates the screen saver image by image editing based on the original data and the values of the parameters in the text file. Accordingly, a user can easily obtain a screen saver image that is truly unique.
