Abstract: A network server is provided which effects the return of a consumer product. The network server is adapted to present to a client located on the network one or more form pages adapted to elicit consumer information including an identification of the consumer product to be returned and an identification of the present location of the consumer product. The server can receive the consumer information and transmit to the client shipping label data which includes an identification of a destination for the consumer product and of a carrier service. The destination is selected in accordance with the consumer information and without regard to where the consumer product was purchased.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed that utilize computers and a network to effect the return of consumer products. In one preferred embodiment, the invention is directed to a system and method for facilitating the return of spent, recyclable products from a consumer to a destination preselected by the manufacturer for recycling. The system uses a computer, located on a network, and adapted to: (a) receive from another computer located on the network consumer information which includes an identification of the consumer product to be returned; and (b) transmit to the other computer shipping label data which includes an identification of a destination for the consumer product, selected in accordance with the consumer information, and an identification of a carrier service.

Abstract: An image recording apparatus of this invention includes a microfilm feeder for moving images on a microfilm to a read position; a printer section for forming an image on the microfilm located at the read position on a sheet; a plurality of bin trays for stacking the sheets delivered from the printer section; a sorter for distributing the sheets delivered from the printer section to the bin trays; a case mark detector for detecting a case mark formed in correspondence with a specific one of images of each case on the microfilm; and a CPU for controlling the sorter in accordance with an output from the case mark detector so that different bin trays hold the sheets, on which images of each objective case are formed, in units of cases; and an input unit for inputting a copy set number. The CPU also controls the printer section so as to repeat an operation for sequentially recording the images of each objective case in a predetermined order in units of sets.

Abstract: An information retrieval system for retrieving desired information from information recorded in a record medium is disclosed. The information on the record medium is classified into at least two groups and a first mark is added to the lower class information and a second mark is added to the higher class information. The marks are detected by mark detection means and the feed of the record medium is controlled in accordance with the output of the mark detection means. When there is an error in the retrieval or in the input, the error is detected and the feed of the record medium is stopped.
