  • Patent number: 6489977
Abstract: A method for displaying a combination of an icon and a message in a selective call receiver is disclosed. A notification mode is designated through a key input section. When receiving information including icon specifying information and a message, an icon corresponding to the icon specifying information is selected from a plurality of predetermined icons stored in a memory. The selected icon and the message are displayed on screen and the selected icon is displayed with designated color, designated position and/or blinking.

  • Patent number: 6223057
Abstract: A radio apparatus having a storage unit, an operation unit and a control unit. The storage unit has a plurality of storage areas, each of which corresponds to a plurality of directories where names and telephone numbers can be stored. The operation unit has two selection keys for scrolling through a list of directory options and a determination key for selecting the desired option. The control unit controls a display unit to display the plurality of directory names and selects one of the plurality of displayed directory names in response to user input through the selection and determination keys. Upon receiving user input the control unit controls the display unit to display a sequence of letters whereby the user can select a name for the telephone number stored in the memory corresponding to that name. The control unit also produces new directory names and allocates storage area of the storage unit to a directory having a new directory name in response to operation of the selection and determination keys.

  • Patent number: 6104303
Abstract: In a device applicable to a pager or similar electronic apparatus for detecting a thin disk-like primary battery which feeds power to a load circuit, a secondary battery is provided which is complementary to the primary battery. A receiving portion receives the primary battery and has a first contact terminal for contacting the positive electrode side of the battery, a second contact terminal for contacting the negative electrode side of the battery at one end and connected to ground at the other end, and a third contact terminal contacting the negative electrode side of the battery at one end. When the primary battery is inserted in the receiving portion in a predetermined orientation, a detecting unit determines that the battery is present on the basis of the contact of the second and third contact terminals via the negative electrode side of the battery.

  • Patent number: 6088576
Abstract: A selective calling receiver having a radio system therein receives a selective calling signal in a first BS (battery-saving) mode when the power switch is in a first state, and receives it in a second BS mode when the power switch is in a second state. According to the first BS mode, power is intermittently supplied to the radio system at all times, and the second BS mode is such that power is intermittently supplied to the radio system for a set time period at intervals so that the selective calling signal is received for the set time period only. The second BS mode is set by determining a reference time point and the set time period such that power is intermittently supplied to the radio system for the set time period with a center time point at the reference time point.

  • Patent number: 5793304
Abstract: A selective calling receiver previously stores a plurality of visual patterns which are different in area from each other on screen. A counter function counts the number of times a single message was received for a predetermined period and then, according to the number of times the single message was received, a single visual pattern is selected from the stored visual patterns. The single message is displayed with the single visual pattern on screen. The visual pattern is preferably displayed with a selected attribute such as color and/or blinking cycle which are determined according to the number of times the single message was received.

  • Patent number: 5546078
Abstract: A paging receiver reporting paging when received a paging signal and storing and reporting the time when the paging signal is received. One or more LEDs selectively glow or intermittently flash in a particular color to inform the user of the time when the paging signal is received.

  • Patent number: 5448452
Abstract: A circuit board for mounting a band-pass filter. An elongate through hole is formed through the ground surface of the circuit board for shielding the input and output terminals of a band-pass filter from each other. The through hole eliminates unexpected coupling between the input and output terminals within the circuit board. Solder which flows into the through hole allows the casing of the filter to closely contact the ground surface of the circuit board.

  • Patent number: 4640986
Abstract: A mobile radio communication system having a plurality of fixed stations respectively connected to a plurality of subscriber's lines extending from a telephone exchange, and a plurality of mobile stations linked with the fixed stations through radio channels. Each of the mobile stations effect speech via one of the fixed stations. The system comprises means provided for each fixed station for transmitting rate charging information from the telephone exchange to a mobile station under speech, and rate collecting means provided for each mobile station and being responsive to the rate charging information to vary its content.
