  • Patent number: 9308745
Abstract: An inkjet recording device includes a tray receiving a recording medium. A tray guide is movable between first and second positions. A first sensor outputs a first signal indicative of the position of the tray guide. A cleaning mechanism cleans a recording portion. First and second conveyor portions convey the tray. The second conveyor portion has a first and a second roller. A first drive source rotates in a forward and a reverse direction of rotation. A second drive source moves the second roller between a contacting state and a separated state. A second sensor outputs a second signal indicative of a driving amount of the first drive source. A control section controls the second drive source to move the second roller from the contacting state to the separated state under certain conditions. The conditions are based on the sensed driving amount and the sensed position of the tray guide.

  • Patent number: 9108408
Abstract: An inkjet recording apparatus may include a carriage, a recording head mounted on the carriage and including a nozzle surface, a maintenance mechanism, and a controller. The maintenance mechanism may include a cap which covers, in a covering position, the nozzle surface of the recording head, a pump including an inlet and an outlet, a tube extending from the outlet, and a waste ink storage detachably attached to the tube. The controller drives the pump to execute purging with the inlet of the pump in communication with the cap in the covering position, receives an input indicating replacement of the waste ink storage, and drives the pump to execute an idle suction with the inlet of the pump in communication with atmosphere when a time elapsed after the execution of the purging until the reception of the input is shorter than a threshold time.

Abstract: An inkjet recording device includes a tray receives a recording medium. A tray guide is movable between a first position and a second position. A first sensor outputs a first signal indicative of the position of the tray guide. A recording portion records an image on the recording medium. A cleaning mechanism cleans the recording portion. A power transmitting portion transmits a force generated by the first drive source to both the cleaning mechanism and the first conveyor portion. A control section drives the first drive source in the forward direction of rotation using a first predetermined amount if the control section determined that the first sensor has detected that the tray guide is not in the second position under the cleaning operation.

  • Patent number: 8827396
Abstract: An ink-jet recording apparatus, including: a recording head; a discharge mechanism configured to perform a discharge operation; an absorbing member configured to absorb discharged ink; and a controller configured to: make a judgment as to whether or not to allow the discharge mechanism to perform the discharge operation every time a discharge timing comes; calculate a waste-liquid amount in a specific time period from a current discharge timing to a time point that precedes by a prescribed time from the current discharge timing, the waste-liquid amount indicative of an amount of the ink discharged in the discharge operation; allow the discharge operation when the calculated waste-liquid amount is smaller than an upper-limit value of an ink-absorption amount, in the specific time period, of the absorbing member; and inhibit the discharge operation at the current discharge timing when the calculated waste-liquid amount becomes equal to or larger than the upper-limit value.

  • Patent number: 8740344
Abstract: In an ink-jet recording apparatus, when a controller receives an image recording command for a sheet placed on a manual feed tray in a state in which a cap is in a first posture in which the cap covers a nozzle face, the controller is configured to rotate the motor in a first direction by a first rotation amount smaller than a complete switch rotation amount required for the image recording. And, the controller is configured to rotate the motor in a second direction by a second rotation amount equal to or less than the first rotation amount. Then, the controller is configured to rotate the motor in the first direction by a difference rotation amount between the complete switch rotation amount and the first rotation amount.
