  • Patent number: 9942844
Abstract: To save power consumed due to reception of frames destined to other communication devices and enable power saving by prolonging a sleep state. A communication device is provided including a communication unit which communicates with a base station, a switching unit which switches an operation mode of the communication unit from a normal mode for communicating with the base station to a power saving mode for uncommunicating with the base station, when the communication unit receives data from the base station in a state in which the communication unit does not transmit a data transmission request to the base station, and a determination unit which determines a duration time of the power saving mode, based on a data length of the data received.

  • Patent number: 9794893
Abstract: There is provided a wireless communication control device and a wireless communication control method, which control the transmission power of radio waves of base stations appropriately to reduce interference between cells. The wireless communication control method according to the present invention is a method of controlling plural base stations in a wireless communication system in which the plural base stations cover a target area with radio waves of a first radio wave strength or more, the method causing a computer to execute: a step of acquiring a relative positional relationship of the plural base stations; a step of identifying a base station, located in the neighborhood of the boundary of the target area, from the relative positional relationship of the plural base stations; and a step of lowering the transmission power of radio waves of a base station other than the identified base station among the plural base stations.

  • Patent number: 6785272
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an apparatus and a method of controlling a stacked switching system. The stacked switching system according to the present invention has a plurality of switches connected to each other through a network backplane. One of the switches in the stacked system is designated as the master unit, whereas the remaining switches are designated as the slave units. The present invention discloses two topology designs for assigning the master duties among the plurality of switches. The first topology design is termed as a fixed topology and the second topology design is termed as a dynamic topology. Both of these two topology designs assign the master control to the switch having the highest priority index. This master duties assignment is performed whenever there is a deletion or addition of switching unit to the system. For the fixed topology design, the master control assignment can only be performed after rebooting the system.

  • Patent number: 6385197
Abstract: A novel virtual port method and apparatus for use in the communication between multiple nodes in a network system is disclosed. Particularly, the virtual port concept is implemented in a switching unit having a plurality of physical ports. According to the present invention, at least one virtual port can be defined by the user to represent a corresponding number of group of physical ports. In this case, a single virtual port identification can be used by the network manager to identify all the physical ports belonging to a trunking group. By using one virtual port identification address instead of a group of physical port addresses, a tremendous reduction in processing overhead in the network manager can be achieved.
