  • Patent number: 8717973
Abstract: In the presence information management method of the present invention, the e-mail address of the user and the terminal address of a terminal are extracted upon receipt of an e-mail transmission request, the e-mail address and terminal address correspondence table is retrieved by using the extracted e-mail address, and the extracted terminal address is registered in the e-mail address and terminal address correspondence table if the retrieved terminal address does not correspond to the extracted terminal address. Thus, the user can automatically update presence information with his/her e-mail transmission request.

  • Patent number: 8090868
Abstract: A load balancer includes a configuration information receiving unit that receives configuration information having address information of all the servers to which a request is directed and the type of service provided by each server, a load balance setting unit that configures so that a request transmitted from a client is transmitted to one of the servers corresponding to a service type specified in a message in accordance with the configuration information, and a band setting unit that calculates the number of the servers for each service type in accordance with the configuration information and assigns a band of a line to each service in accordance with the calculated number.

  • Patent number: 7873733
Abstract: A load distribution device that receives processing requests from terminals and that allocates and transfers the processing requests to at least one of a plurality of servers. The load distribution device includes a monitoring unit, a request receiving unit, an update server determining unit, a distribution ratio setting unit, a load distribution unit, a notification unit and an update completion detecting unit, whereupon receipt of a notification that the update of the server to be updated is completed, the update server determining unit determines that the update to the server to be updated is completed, determines a new server to be updated and a new server to be updated next, and instructs the distribution ratio setting unit to set the distribution ratios.

  • Patent number: 6850537
Abstract: In a packet fluctuation absorbing method and apparatus of the present invention, packets from a preceding node of a network are received. The packets are temporarily retained in a buffer. The respective packets are read from the buffer in the order of receiving of the packets at given time instants. The read packets are output to a following node of the network so as to absorb time-related fluctuations of the packets. A lower limit of the buffer that is predetermined as being larger than zero is stored. When the number of retained packets in the buffer is less than the stored lower limit as a result of the outputting of one of the read packets and a use count of the corresponding one of the read packets is equal to or larger than a predetermined use count upper limit, the corresponding packet in the retained packets of the buffer is discarded.

  • Patent number: 6584110
Abstract: A voice gateway is used to transmit voice signals through the Internet. Upon receiving a connection request, the gateway calculates an end-to-end delay time and selects a proper route according to the calculated delay time to improve the quality of voice transmission. A gateway (10) on the caller side multicasts a connection request to gateways (20) on the receiver side. Each of the receiver gateways returns a response to the caller gateway. According to the response, the caller gateway calculates a compression/decompression allowance and selects a route that employs a compression rule whose compression or decompression time is shorter than the compression/decompression allowance.
