    Abstract: A steer-by-wire system can be controlled using a hypothetical or virtual model of a conventional automotive steering system such as an electric power steering (EPS) system in which a steering wheel is mechanically linked to one or more road wheels. The model of the EPS system may be implemented in algorithms or instructions of software. In order to reconstruct driving feedback similar to the conventional steering system in the steer-by-wire system, the steer-by wire system may use the model of the EPS system. For example, a controller of the steer-by-wire system controls an angular velocity of a steering feedback actuator of the steer-by-wire system operably connected with the steering wheel so as to provide a steering feedback to a driver or operator using the model of the EPS system.
