  • Patent number: 9273754
Abstract: A non-uniform axisymmetric damper device is provided, comprising a first portion that extends radially outward from an outer surface of a flange protrusion, and is spaced from and concentric with the flange protrusion. Further, a second portion of the damper device is provided with an inner surface coupled to an outer surface of the first portion and a non-uniform outer surface extending radially outward from the first portion. Accordingly, a light-weight damper is provided that allows for resonance suppression in six degrees of freedom.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 27, 2012
Date of Patent: March 1, 2016
    Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLC
Inventors: Jim Chern, Max Gibbs, Milind Shankarrao Ravan, Tony Ge, Wan Joe Chen
  • Patent number: 9175733
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a vehicle transmission clutch assembly with squawk reduction techniques, having: a clutch component configured to rotate with respect to a transmission shaft; and a plurality of multi-directional mass dampers coupled to the clutch component, configured to alter a mode of vibration for the clutch component during clutch engagement.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 17, 2012
Date of Patent: November 3, 2015
    Assignee: FORD GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES, LLC
Inventors: Jim Chern, Carl Garbacik, Tony Ge, Jau-Wen Tseng
  • Patent number: 8985291
Abstract: A vehicle differential unit (DU), including: a torsional damper assembly having a plurality of independently sprung damper assemblies positioned with respect to the DU, each damper assembly configured to reduce noise or vibration generated by the DU in a predetermined frequency range.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 3, 2013
Date of Patent: March 24, 2015
    Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLC
