  • Publication number: 20080052787
Abstract: Four zebrafish gene promoters, which are skin specific, muscle specific, skeletal muscle specific and ubiquitously expressed respectively, were isolated and ligated to the 5? end of the EGFP gene. When the resulting chimeric gene constructs were introduced into zebrafish, the transgenic zebrafish emit green fluorescence under a blue light or ultraviolet light according to the specificity of the promoters used. Thus, new varieties of ornamental fish of different fluorescence patterns, e.g., skin fluorescence, muscle fluorescence, skeletal muscle-specific and/or ubiquitous fluorescence, are developed.

  • Publication number: 20070275037
Abstract: The invention provides an expression vector for expression of recombinant vitellogenin in an eukaryotic host. An eukaryotic host, including yeast comprising the expression vector according to the invention may be used as a feed or feed additive for both oviparous and non-oviparous animals, including domesticated animals. A transgenic yeast according to the invention contain increased levels of essential amino acids and fatty acids and may be used as a direct feed or fed to an intermediate live feed such as rotifers or artemias to increase the survival rates of oviparous animal or broodstock.

  • Publication number: 20070071776
Abstract: A recombinant vaccine that is useful for immunizing fish against ciliated ectoparasitic protozoans that cause white spot disease also known as ‘ich’. The disease is caused by Ichthyophthirius multifiliis which is a ciliated ectorparasitic protozoan that is an obligate parasite and therefore cannot grow in vitro. The instant vaccine replaces chemotherapy and vaccines prepared from I. Multifiliis production in live fish. The effective element of the vaccine is a recombinant fusion protein derived from an artificial DNA sequence for immobilization antigen, repeat I, of Ichthyophthirius multifiliis. The novel DNA nucleotide and amino acid sequences are disclosed.
