    Abstract: A ceiling system in one embodiment includes a longitudinally-extending support member mountable from a ceiling and a clamping bracket attachable to the support member for supporting a ceiling element. The clamping bracket includes a cavity that receives the support member at least partially therein. A resiliently deformable elastic member has a movable bearing surface positioned in the cavity of the clamping bracket. The elastic member is movable from an undeflected inactive position to a deflected active position in response to inserting the support member into the cavity of the clamping bracket. The elastic member applies a force on the support member to help retain the clamping bracket on the support member.
