  • Patent number: 4766939
Abstract: An assembly for limbing tree stems comprises two limbing tools (53, 53') movable towards and away from each other, and two feeding units (1, 1') which are also movable towards and away from each other and arranged for longitudinal feeding of individual stems past the limbing tools limbing the stems. Each limbing tool (53) is connected to an associated feeding unit (1) and arranged to follow this unit when moving towards and away from the stem. Further, the limbing tool is located substantially in the extension of the contact surface of the feeding unit with respect to the stem. The feeding units and the limbing tools are movable towards and away from each other in a common plane to which rotary shafts for driving the feeding units are provided at right angles. Each limbing tool is mounted on at least one arm which is articulated or pivotally connected to a frame for the feeding unit.

  • Patent number: 4742854
Abstract: A feeding device for effecting a longitudinally directed relative movement between a stem and the device proper comprises at least one feeding unit in the form of an endless band or band-like element which is drivable by means of at least one rotatable wheel. The endless element is composed of a large number of hingedly interconnected chain-forming links (11, 12) which are movable along the outer side or the periphery of an elongate guide bar and which, by bearing against said bar (10), are adapted to transfer substantially uniformly distributed bearing pressures to the stem substantially throughout the length of said bar.

  • Patent number: 4665961
Abstract: A machine for limbing trees arranged in bundles including two alternatingly cooperating carriers (8, 9), at least one carrier (8) including a number of rotatable, suitably cylindrical, limbing means (10), means being associated to the carriers to transfer the separate bundle of trees from one carrier to another and vice versa, thus loosening the bundle in order to revolve the trees and successively bring unlimbered parts of the trees into contact with said limbing means (10).

  • Patent number: 4069846
Abstract: When a tree stump has been split into several parts by a chopping action, the invention provides a gripping, shaking and cutting unit rigidly connected to the end of a vehicle-carried rotatable crane boom, having an adjustable effective length, for pulling out the stump parts along with their roots one by one from the earth in a direction substantially corresponding to the extension of the roots, and then shaking and cutting the stump parts.

  • Patent number: 4048733
Abstract: At the end of a vehicle-carried crane arm a vertically extending frame is supported which at its lower end carries a movable split head with spreadable chopping blades. A ram raisable to the top of the frame drives, when released, by the impact on the split head the blades into the center of a tree stump that is to be extracted from the earth. Then the blades are spread to break the stump into separate portions which are easily individually removable in a direction substantially following the extension of the roots.

  • Patent number: 3972430
Abstract: A crane jib includes a support, a base arm pivoted in the support, and a jib lever pivotally connected to the base arm. The jib lever supports at its free end a work tool and is oscillated on its support by two hydraulic jacks, the first of the jacks is placed at a point from the journal place of the base arm, while the second jack is placed adjacent the jib lever. The second hydraulic jack has its line of action approximately parallel to a line through the bearing points of the base arm, while its lower bearing point is disposed at a lower level than the bearing place of the base arm.
