    Abstract: An apparatus is capable of executing a facsimile communication using an Error Correction Mode (ECM) function based on a facsimile procedure with a communication partner connected via an Internet Protocol (IP) network. In response to receiving, from the communication partner via the network, a communication start request including information indicating a transport protocol for use in the communication, if the apparatus determines that the transport protocol for use in the communication does not have the error correction function, the apparatus sends to the communication partner a notification indicating that the apparatus is capable of executing the communication using the ECM function.
