    Abstract: The present invention aims to provide a lubricating oil composition capable of use in for example the bearings of a high-speed main shaft having ceramics ball antifrication bearings operating under severe conditions of high speed and high load. To this end the present invention provides a lubricating oil composition, in particular for lubrication of ceramics, comprising a base oil; and at least one additive selected from the group consisting of: (i) an acid amide obtainable by reacting an amine with a saturated monocarboxylic acid having from 12 to 30 carbons or an unsaturated monocarboxylic acid having from 18 to 24 carbons; (ii) sarcosinic acid; and (iii) an aspartic acid derivative.
