  • Patent number: 5373635
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a linear motion guide unit having a slider mounted to a rail. The rail includes a top surface, a bottom surface and a pair of side surfaces. A liner overlying the rail is press-formed against a core which is lager than a combination of the rail and a thin plate member. The press-formed liner is placed inside a mold and molten metal is poured into a gap formed between the liner and the mold. After the metal cools to a hardened condition, the slider is removed from the mold and assembled on the rail with a gap defined between the top of the rail and an opposed surface of the slider. Oil is supplied to the gap to define an oil film between the rail and the slider.

  • Patent number: 5319915
Abstract: A steel cord comprising a number (between 3 and 27) of element steel wires tightly twisted at a regular pitch P between 5 and 20 mm in the same direction. Each wire has a diameter d between 0.1 and 0.4 mm. At least one of the wires includes a spiral portion having a spiral pitch P1 between 0.1P and 0.7P and a spiral diameter d1 between d+2/100 mm and d+2/10 mm. At least one other wire includes a straight portion. At any cross section of the cord, 1/4 through 2/3 of the wires is/are spiral and the other wire/s is/are straight. The stretch of the cord under a load of 5 kg is between 0.10 and 0.40%. A method of producing a steel cord comprises supplying a number of element steel wires, forming at least part of at least one of the wires to be spiral, and tightly twisting the wires.

  • Patent number: 5267796
Abstract: A linear motion guide unit includes a rail having a top surface, a bottom surface and a pair of side surfaces, a thin plate member fixedly attached to the top surface of the rail and a slider slidably mounted on the rail with a predetermined gap between the thin plate member and the slider such that a film of oil may be formed for damping or absorbing any vibration. The thin plate member is preferably formed with an oil groove for storing therein a quantity of oil.

  • Patent number: 4896974
Abstract: A crossed roller rolling contact bearing assembly includes a pair of first and second members which move relative to each other, a guide channel defined between the first and second members and a plurality of rollers provided in the guide channel in a crossed arrangement with a spacer interposed between any two adjacent rollers. The spacer has a generally spherical outer peripheral surface and a pair of recessed, arc-shaped guide surfaces which have generatrix lines extending perpendicular to each other. Becuase of the spherical outer shape of the spacer, a generally wedge-shaped space is defined between the roller and the spacer so that a quantity of lubricant may be reserved therein to keep the guide channel sufficiently lubricated at all times.

  • Patent number: 4837645
Abstract: A guide drum has recording or reproducing heads and a loading device has vertical poles and inclined poles for pulling out a tape from a tape cassette mounted on the recording/reproducing apparatus and for wrapping the tape around the guide drum. The loading device includes a pole driving mechanism for driving the poles and a toggle mechanism for causing a pinch roller to come into contact with a capstan so that the tape is interposed therebetween after the tape is wrapped around the guide drum. The toggle mechanism comprises a pinch roller cam driven in accordance with the movement of the pole driving mechanism, a pinch roller arm having the pinch roller and rotatably supported at one end portion and a link member coupled between the pinch roller cam and the pinch roller arm. With this arrangement, the pinch roller is directed to the capstan in response to the movement of the link member due to the movement of the pole driving mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4659437
Abstract: A method of thermal diffusion alloy plating for steel wire including the steps of continuously detecting the quantity of metal plated, plated metal composition, plating composition gradient or combination thereof, in thermal diffusion alloy plating effected continuously on steel wire. Detection of these valves is performed by an energy dispersive type X-ray fluorescent analyzer and upon detecting any variation in these values, a control signal is given to a control unit to adjust automatically the plating electric current and the diffusion heating quantity, thereby imparting the desired quantity of metal plated, the desired plated alloy composition ratio and the desired plating composition gradient uniformly in the lengthwise direction of steel wire.
