    Abstract: A paper conveyance roller pair on the lower flow side of an auto cutter which cuts a target recording medium (long paper) at predetermined timing during a printing operation includes a powder brake mechanism which brakes the paper conveyance roller pair by changing the degree of agglomeration of magnetic powder with a magnetic force generated by a coil based on an excitation current value so as to continuously vary a transmission torque. When the target recording medium is cut, a control section varies an excitation current of the power brake mechanism to increase a load torque to be applied to the paper conveyance roller pair, and applies tension larger than usual to the target recording medium pinched by the paper conveyance roller pair.

The image former includes a determiner that determines whether or not the first roller pair that conveys the recording medium in the rolled shape conveyed from the second roller pair has held the recording medium in the rolled shape. When the determiner determines that the recording medium in the rolled shape has been held, the controller stops the active rotation of the second roller pair.

    Abstract: A head controller 2 reads out adjustment data from a ROM 3 immediately after a power-on operation. The adjustment data is prepared for adjusting unevenness of light emission from LEDs in a LED head 5. A buffer memory 4 stores the read adjustment data. The head controller 2 reads the adjustment data from the buffer memory 4 with high data transfer rate, and obtains bitmap data from a frame memory or the like (not shown). The head controller 2 sends the read bitmap data and the adjustment data to an anode driver 51. The head controller 2 sends a strobe signal to the anode driver 51 and a cathode driver 53. The anode driver 51 adjusts ampere of supplied currents (i.e. drive signals corresponding to the bitmap data) from the head controller 2, in accordance with the received adjustment data in response to the reception of the strobe signal. The adjusted drive signals are sent to LED array chips 52.

    Abstract: A recording apparatus has an array of recording elements arranged in a main scanning direction and having a predetermined dot pattern, and forms a dot image on a recording medium located opposite to the recording elements. Reception circuit receives image data of a predetermined dot density. A plurality of line buffers store one dot line of data of interest as a printing target among the image data and aligned in the main scanning direction, and plural dot lines of data preceding and following the one dot line with respect to a sub-scanning direction. A compensation data generating circuit converts the one dot line of data of interest as the printing target into N lines of compensation data, divided by N with respect to the sub-scanning direction, based on the plural dot lines of data preceding and following the one dot line. A control circuit controls the time for activating the recording elements based on the compensation data.
