  • Patent number: 8091518
Abstract: A partition member used in a cylinder block of an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The partition member is arranged in a groove-like cooling passage through which a cooling heat medium flows. The partition member includes a separating wall and a flexible lip member. The separating wall divides the cooling passage into an inner passage and an outer passage. The inner passage is located close to the cylinder bores, and the outer passage is located outside of the inner passage. The lip member extends from the separating wall toward the opening of the cooling passage in such a manner that, when the partition member is arranged in the cooling passage, the lip member contacts one of the inner surfaces of the cylinder block forming the cooling passage. When the partition member is arranged in the cooling passage, the distal edge portion of the flexible lip member contacts the inner surface due to force produced through flexible shape restoration of the lip member.

  • Patent number: 8066146
Abstract: Disclosed are an insulated container in which a high-performance vacuum heat insulating material is formed around a three-dimensional container and in which heat loss is minimized, and a method of manufacturing the insulated container. An insulated container for heat-insulation storage of a liquid has a resin inner container equipped with liquid flow inlet/outlet portions, an interior member and an exterior member which accommodate the inner container and around which a gas barrier layer is formed, and a heat insulation space which is defined between the interior member and the exterior member and which is held in a pressure-reduced state, with a heat insulating material being sealed therein. Further, flange members are fitted onto the flow inlet/outlet portions, lower flange surfaces of the flange members are bonded to the interior member, and upper flange surfaces thereof are bonded to the exterior member.

  • Patent number: 6719300
Abstract: A metal gasket for sealing a region whereat there exists three pairs of sets of opposing surfaces between a cylinder block, a chain case and a cylinder head of a chain driving engine. The metal gasket includes an elastic seal member provided on an inner rim of a chain opening formed in said metal gasket, and a storing structure for liquid gasket material used for sealing. The storing structure defined is an enlargement of the chain opening oriented to coincide with a juncture of the region whereat three pairs of opposing surface areas exist, the enlargement defining a cavity in which is housed liquid gasket material and a through hole is provided externally of the cavity.
