  • Patent number: 6343189
Abstract: A camera includes a retractable built-in flash unit which is movable between a retracted position and a discharge position, and a controller which controls the built-in flash and provides an auto flash mode in which the controller allows the built-in flash to discharge automatically when necessary. In the auto flash mode, the controller moves the built-in flash from the retracted position to the discharge position when predetermined conditions are satisfied, and subsequently controls the retractable built-in flash unit to discharge automatically at a time of exposure. Furthermore, the controller temporarily prohibits the retractable built-in flash unit from automatically discharging if the retractable built-in flash unit is pushed down to the retracted position after the controller moves the retractable built-in flash unit from the retracted position to the discharge position.

  • Publication number: 20020010269
Abstract: An ordinary temperature curable coating composition comprises an oxidative curable silicon modified vinyl-based resin (A) which is obtained by combining an epoxy group-containing vinyl copolymer (a) with an unsaturated fatty acid-containing fatty acid component (b) and a silicon resin (c). The vinyl copolymer (a) is a copolymer of an epoxy group-containing polymerizable unsaturated first monomer and a polymerizable unsaturated second monomer copolymerizable with the first monomer. The silicon resin (c) contains a silicon atom and a hydroxyl group and/or an alkoxyl group which is bonded to the silicon atom. The coating composition can form a coating film superior in weathering resistance, coating film gloss, and coating operation properties such as storage property, initial drying property and brush stroke during double coatings with a brush.

  • Patent number: 6341202
Abstract: An operation device of a camera includes an indication member comprising a plurality of characters, an operation member which is movable relative to the indication member and includes an index mark for pointing at one of the plurality of characters when the operation member stops at a corresponding stop position thereof; and an illuminating device which illuminates at least one of the plurality of characters at which the index mark points. Also disclosed is a control device for controlling the illuminating device to be turned ON and OFF in a predetermined particular pattern immediately after the power of the camera is turned ON, wherein the control device does not turn the illuminating device ON and OFF in the predetermined particular pattern thereafter, in a power-ON state of the camera.

  • Patent number: 5907724
Abstract: In a lens barrel of a zoom lens, a luminous flux is divided or its path is switched so that the same luminous flux is directed to both a taking optical system and a finer optical system. Focusing and camera shake compensation are performed before division of the luminous flux or switching of its path so that images observed through a finder are already in focus and compensated for camera shakes. The lens barrel has multiple movable segments to allow the taking optical system and the finder optical system to be moved out simultaneously. To achieve zooming, a holding member for holding both a focusing lens unit and other lens units is moved so that all these lens units are moved simultaneously. Adjustment of the focusing lens unit, necessitated as a result of zooming, is achieved by moving a part of the focusing lens unit within the holding member.

  • Patent number: 5815748
Abstract: To shoot a still picture and a moving picture simultaneously, a light beam having passed through a taking lens is split by a half-mirror into two light beams so that one of the split light beams is directed to silver halide film and the other is directed to a CCD. An image captured by the CCD is displayed on a viewfinder. Focus condition of an image on the silver halide film is detected by the phase-difference detection method and focus condition of an image on CCD is detected by the contrast detection method so that, based on detection results, the focus of the taking lens or of a relay optical system is adjusted to obtain a well-focused image. When focus condition detection by one method is impossible, results of focus condition detection by the other method are used to adjust the focus.

  • Patent number: 5805939
Abstract: A camera has a variable focal length lens and a viewfinder system whose magnification is variable in accordance with the focal length of the lens. A line array sensor generates an electrical signal in accordance with the intensity of the received light. A distance measuring optical system, which transmits light from a photographic object to the sensing elements of the sensor, has an optical axis which is different from the optical axis to the viewfinder system. A designator designates a particular sensing area, corresponding to the focal length of the lens, over the sensing elements of the sensor. A first distance data generator generates first distance data based on electrical signals generated by the sensing elements within the designated sensing area, and a second distance data generator generates second distance data based on electrical signals generated by the sensing elements outside of the designated sensing area. A discriminator discriminates whether the first distance data generator is operable.
