  • Patent number: 4825862
Abstract: A cuff pressure regulator for controlling the pressure in an annular, collapsible and inflatable bag-like cuff of a cuffed endotracheal tube inserted in a patient's trachea, while allowing superposition of the patient's ventilatory pressure variation on the cuff pressure. The regulator has a second chamber communicating with the inside of the cuff and a third chamber communicating with the inside of the tube inserted in the patient's trachea. A diaphragm portion of the partition between the second chamber and the third chamber is connected to a cuff pressure setter, so that the pressure in the second chamber is set at a desired level by the setter and controlled in response to the pressure variation in the third chamber.

  • Patent number: 4807307
Abstract: A device for opening and closing the seating plate of the lavatory unit of the seat type wherein the unit is provided with only the seating plate. The device includes a spring for connecting a movable member attached to the unit body with the seating plate freely swingably pivoted on the unit body at one end rim thereof, an opening mechanism for moving the movable member to reverse the urging direction of the spring from its seating-plate-closing direction to its seating-plate-opening direction, and a closing mechanism for causing the seating plate to be closed. When the opening mechanism is made operative, the urging direction of the spring is reversed to open the seating plate. When the unit is provided with the seating and the cover plate.

  • Patent number: 4770170
Abstract: A cuff regulator for an endotracheal-tube cuff comprising a first chamber connected to a pressurized gas supply source, and a second chamber connected to the first chamber through a pressure regulating valve and having an opening connected to a cuff of the cuffed endotracheal-tube. An orifice open to the external environment is provided in a part of a gas conduit between the second chamber and the cuff. A third chamber is also provided having the same pressure as that of the environment in which the cuff is existent. A valve driving apparatus drives the pressure regulating valve in response to the pressure difference between the third chamber and the second chamber, and a pressure setting device sets a desired cuff pressure at which opening and closing operations of the pressure regulating valve are actuated.

  • Patent number: 4686974
Abstract: Steady insufflation of a gas starts before the beginning of each inhalation, and a pulse-like peak flow insufflation of the gas is superposed on the steady insufflation for a short period of times at the beginning of the inhalation, and the steady insufflation is terminated before the end of the inhalation, so as to improve the inhalation efficiency of insufflated gas extremely.
