  • Publication number: 20060136175
Abstract: A utility diagnosing equipment can recognize an abnormality or a normality in a plurality of utilities of an identical type, which would not be recognized when an absolute threshold is set. The equipment accepts state values from the plurality of utilities, sets an average value of the state values of each utility to a proxy value, finds a relative value between the state value of each utility and the proxy value thereof, and displays the relative value for each utility. The relative values of the utilities exceeding a predetermined threshold is highlighted.

  • Publication number: 20060012489
Abstract: Power is taken out from radio waves through an antenna and a power receiving unit. A signal receiver, a comparator, and an ID signal holder are operated with the taken-out power to compare an ID contained in a received signal with an ID read out from the ID signal holder. When both the ID's are matched with each other, a switch for a main power source is turned on. In trying to remotely operate household electrical appliances by utilizing the Internet that has become increasingly popular, standby power is consumed if the electrical appliances are kept in a standby state at all times. Since power is taken out from radio waves, the invention is able to cut the standby power in an environment where the radio waves are transferred via radio communication that is expected to be more and more prevalent in future.

  • Patent number: 6751605
Abstract: A character recognition apparatus for inferring the entire character string solely from a user-input handwritten keyword and displaying the inferred result as a candidate character string. The apparatus of the invention comprises: a word string includes a word hierarchy and for recognizing each of the words within the hierarchy; a character transition probability table a4 storing probabilities of transitions from any one character to another, and those pieces of the word identification information which correspond to combinations of characters resulting from the transitions; and an optimization unit for using the character transition probability table in optimizing candidate character strings obtained by a recognition unit. The word dictionary is searched for a word defined by the word identification information which corresponds to the optimized candidate character string, whereby the searched word is retrieved which applies to the hierarchy information and which has yet to be input.

  • Patent number: 6476796
Abstract: A display device has a touch pad and a display lamintated together to form a screen, That screen is connected to a controller which processes signals generated by physical contact with the touch pad and activates the display to display e.g. characters input by a stylus to the touch pad. The display device is connected to an external device (e.g. a computer) and video signals from the external device are received via a video input and may be displayed on the display. Also the controller can transmit to the external device via an output. Thus, the display can display simultaneously information from the external device and information input to the touch pad. If the controller is arranged to carry out character recognition, the display device may then act as a hand-writing input device, with the handwritten information being incorporated with information in the external device and displayed.

  • Patent number: 6369805
Abstract: The present invention relates to an information processing system using a coordinate detection device and displays, and more specifically to an input-display integrated information processing system which allows the displays to be carried like paper and to be freely laid out and stacked together on a desk (coordinate input device). The system includes a layout determining unit for determining a layout of the display on said coordinate detection device, wherein the layout determining unit further comprises a display position coordinate detector that detects where in the coordinate space of the coordinate detection device the display for displaying an information is located, and a coordinate converter that converts the information into display coordinates. The layout determination is done by using markers attached to three of the four corners of the display.

  • Patent number: 6324467
Abstract: An information providing system is capable of rendering map-information services even if the size of a free area in a memory employed in a terminal becomes small, disallowing all details of a map to be downloaded. A server employed in the information providing system has a search engine for searching a map data base for a map suitable for a destination and the present position of the terminal as received from the terminal, a route computing unit for computing a guide route from the present position to the destination, a map display location determination unit for determining a location at which route information including a map based on the calculated guide route is to be transmitted to the terminal and a thinning determination unit for thinning the information to be transmitted based on information on the terminal received from the terminal. The thinning determination unit has a priority-level definition table for defining priority levels assigned to map elements stored in the map data base.
